Putin doesn't give a shit who's US president. If you believe this invasion wasn't planned years ahead you're pretty naive. The difference is that Trump wouldn't have used such escalating rhetoric - when it comes to Putin - while doing absolutely nothing.

Trump would have just watched it unfold and probably do minimal sanctions to score political points.

I still haven't followed things as much to have opinions that I'm comfortable with. (For example it took me a year to join the Corona discussion, unlike people like Blade that talk with authority about things where he only read a CNN headline. Or for example, so sure that Kyle Rittenhouse shot Hubert in the back while he was running away, even though the trial was already over, all the facts known, with nobody else saying such a thing.) But from what I gather from my limited knowledge, Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if Trump was in charge, just because he wouldn't need to. This seems to be a defensive move for Russia, driven by an agenda behind the people behind Biden. These people are not good people.
I haven't read any comments on the matter, other than I think Blade and Off the Court saying things that Putin is a version of Hitler, and basically being sold, manipulated by the media into thinking this is a simplistic fight between good and evil. You have a complicated history that involves oil, culture, installed governments, and more importantly, the future security of a country. Yet you have CNN convincing simple people that it's just good versus evil, and their team is the caring good guys.
I read something from 2008 of some guy predicting this attack, based on factors related to the security of Russia. Very predictable stuff. (For example, if China gets to install missiles in Canada, or Cuba. That would not be good for the US. Would the US just let it happen?) Yet for the simple minded, Hitler, good versus evil.

Republican party. Faux news. The usual suspects in politics like Jim Jordan. I don't think he would have been openly cheering for Russia either because it would make him look bad politically. He would probably just be quiet about it for the most part as it unfolds while golfing on his property until the pressure mounted for sanctions. He would do minimal sanctions and return to golfing. Anyways, he is not even president so I won't go too far.

Neither Trump nor Biden have anything to do with this situation yet you brought up Trump here, because you and apparently 62% of the asked population believe that he's some sort of magician that would change Putin's plans through simply existing.

It's evil vs evil and of course the attack was predictable. Putin never accepted Ukraine's souvereignty. If it was about NATO and missile shields the baltic states and Norway, a NATO founding member, would be the first targets.
The Ukraine is a simple target and in Putin's mind part of Russia. If the US and the NATO never existed Russia would've tried to conquer it long ago.
Ironically you're pretty manipulated by media. How come the pattern Pro-Trump/Anti-Covid/Pro-Putin is reoccuring all the time? What a surprise you're exactly taking the same stance here. You're just manipulated by a different set of media outlets than the american left that follows just another pattern.
Yet people think they're freethinkers and openminded, while they spew the same points as any other right oder leftwing partisan.

Has nothing to do with being a magician. Has to do with his brief track record and his ability to broker deals. And it also has to do with the perception of strength that follows him that most certainly doesn't follow Biden.
And for some reason you're repeating this lie just to smear us and Trump, that we're somehow pro Putin. It's disingenuous and only done to protect the incompetence of Joe Biden.

Putin doesn't want a deal. He wants to annex the Ukraine. There's nothing any US president could offer Putin that'd satisfy him.
I don't give AF about senile Joe.
Pro-Putin as in the attacked was provoked by NATO under the standing US president's guidance. jstern, you among others act like Biden had any say in this attack.

Life in general is actually very simple. Humans just like to over complicate things. If you kill another man for the soil he stands on God won't care about the details. And more people watch Rogan than CNN, the fake news narrative is dead.

We don't talk about past Presidents as if they're still in office, well, maybe Liberals do. But nevertheless, this article is a dig at Biden and a factual consensus of how the country feels about him right now. What media am I being manipulated by? I have barely watched anything on the matter and naturally look at Russia's point of view. Meanwhile the little that I've seen from people is the cringy, "Modern day Hitler. Good versus evil" Simplistic minds unable to look at the factors.
And quite frankly, look at your logic. "In Putin's mind, bla, bla, he wants to conquer." That is sooooo simplistic minded, I'm sorry. Basically some random guy, Putin comes to your awareness the last couple of days, and now you're so sure, 100% right now of what he's thinking. He wants to conquer, and all that simplistic thinking. Ignore any other real life factors. Just making it a simplistic battle of good versus evil is enough for you. Where a pathological liar represents good and caring for the Ukranian people.
I haven't even heard anyone with my point of view.

Putin had his sights set on Ukraine a couple decades ago. He doesn't believe Ukraine has a right to exist because it is a piece of Russia. Overdrive is correct about that. You can't deny it either because that is what Putin said in his speech a few days ago.

this. 99% of people that are emotionally invested in politics only listen to one side of the argument - the one that fits their narrative. they won't consider even just entertaining a thought if it comes from the other side. they just want their red meat.
they hear something that makes sense to their world view and they run with it. this is true for humans in general, it doesn't matter which side of the aisle you fall under.
