Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook, March 2, 2022.

Rudy Gobert -160
Giannis Antetokounmpo +425
Jaren Jackson Jr. +700
Draymond Green +1,000
Mikal Bridges +1,600
Joel Embiid +2,000
Bam Adebayo +2,000
Robert Williams +2,000
Evan Mobley +4,000
Jarrett Allen +4,000
Matisse Thybulle +5,000
Deandre Ayton +15,000

Rudy Gobert (-160)

Gobert has taken over as an odds-on favorite, once again flanking a Utah defense that plummeted in his absence. After missing nine consecutive games — plus selective absences earlier season — Gobert now fortifies Utah's back line, helping them fend off the Mavs and Nuggets in the West. When he has been healthy, the Stifle Tower is having another dominant season, leading the league in rebounds while ranking second in blocks and sitting at or near the top of virtually every defensive metric.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (+425)

Second is Antetokounmpo, one of the most unique defensive specimens in NBA history, whose versatility makes him an indispensable cog to Milwaukee's D. He can cover all positions seamlessly and switch onto any attacker, making him virtually mismatch-proof. Milwaukee has had its difficulties staying healthy this season, and despite Giannis filling a variety of roles from rim protector to pick-and-roll breakup artist, its team defense has fallen out of the NBA's Top 10 (currently 13th).

Robert Williams deserves it without a doubt.

Rudy clearly deserves it but since they may have voter fatigue and Draymond(hands down the best overall defender in the league) missed so many games they may give it to Twig.

Giannis does not deserve it for as long/athletic as he is, he does not cause enough havoc on defense. AD (who is built the same exact way) be in them passing lanes like prime dwade + block shots like a big. The man causes so much fking havoc on defense and Giannis never be turnt up on defense like ad. I still don’t know why they gave him dpoy…. He’s not like that on defense

At this point it's Lebron's to lose.

all most every game I have watched Giannis has blocked shots and has disrupted the opponents offense.

I still like him as DPoY

Evan Mobley should be more in the conversation than he is.

Mikal Bridges should win it. Notice how all of those dudes at the top are 4/5's? Bridges is the only one in the top 10 who consistently plays lock down defense on 1's, 2's, 3's, and 4's. And we're in a league dominated by 1's, 2's, and 3's offensively compared to 4's and 5's. So why not finally give it to a guy who guards objectively better offensive players more regularly? It just doesn't make sense to give DPOY to big men every year in this era.

Suns have the 3rd best defensive rating despite playing at the 9th fastest pace in the league, and Mikal is the biggest reason why. He consistently guards the other team's best player(aside from Centers). With those long ass arms contesting shots, he's as good defensively as it gets for wing. And he's proved it so many times when playing against the leagues most premiere scorers. Shit, he held Steph Curry to his worst shooting night of all time 4-21(19%) FG%, 3-14(21%) 3pt%.

He's also never missed a single game including due to Injury or Sickness in his entire NBA career. He's the true iron man of the league, and I think it's time he starts getting the credit he deserves. At the very least he should be 1st team All Defense this season.
