View Full Version : Why did Melo agree to play with Westbrick for a 2nd time?

I can understand to a degree about Lebron, his analytical framework is limited to 'hes a star so let get him'. But Melo played with the cancer once in OKC and knows how cancerous his impact on the team is. He should have known that there is no chance for a championship with Westbrick on the team. why the hell did he think it would work out this time and not just sign for another team instead? Melo with the Sixers or Bucks turns the needle more, and gets himself a much better chance for a ring. smh.

1. Lifestyle in LA with low ring chance >>>> lifestyle in other locales with better ring chance.

Or if he isn’t smart enough or honest enough with himself to foresee the low ring chance he walked into:

2. Delusions of easy success, from their fun times in the Olympics.

Those are my top two guesses as to why.

Melo having actual faith in Westbrick isn’t anywhere in the top 20 most likely reasons.

They must've figured mr 1-5 could carry them

Because his stint in OKC wasn't the worst....PG didn't kill Westbrook, like a certain other person

Even if Melo thinks Westbrook sucks no one would care so it wouldn't matter. He is no longer the type of star whose team talks to him about roster moves. Instead he's a reserve that is just happy to have a job in LA. If the Lakers found him to be in any way annoying they would and could have shipped him out to the first team that offered a second round pick.

Because WestBrook is good friends with these guys. The vets this team has already are proven and over the hill to be starters 65 games a year.

Easier to lose and have great weather while your kids enjoy the Cali life than be in cold climates. Plus the lakers are like the dallas cowboys. They take care of their players.

Because Melo was never a smart player to begin with.

It was a terrible mash. Yeah they had the stats but they were shit as a collective and Brick was running the game of course.

Say whatever you want about Melo but hes a legend of the game and still a solid offensive contributor. If hes so close with Lebron he should have had more influence on the decision. But I can bet he was not present in LeGM's war room

You seem to have misdiagnosed the cancer in the Lakers

Several cancers.
Some more glaringly malignant than others.

I'd rather not play then once again take a backseat to the guy who punked me once at OKC.

Melo has never appeared to care about winning very much imo.
