One of the few actual 3 way offensive players. Layups dunks, post moves crossovers dunks. He has it. He doesn’t have the explosive first step or athleticism but he has the moves and uses his height to his advantage. Very unique player.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Watching Tatum for me is typically a positive experience. Hopefully you can ignore that he reminds you of a negative player.

Tatum is unique in how he plays. I don't see the Kobe or MJ comparisons. Glad to see the Celtics play well. I hope they continue to improve their game going into the playoffs.

That's Michael Jeffrey Jordan... The quick, instinctive pure scoring and lean-in hangtime amongst the trees.. goat-caliber

Great looking play but it really was just HORRIBLE DEFENSE. Don't see the Jordan comparisons AT ALL

Comparing Tatum to kobe let alone Jordan is ridiculous. As usual a lot of their fans overlook how important playmaking was to their impact on offense. Tatum has a long way to go there. It’s one reason Boston is always looking for a good offensive pg and they haven’t been a top 10 offense last year and this year even with pretty talented rosters

He's a lot bigger and "just" a good athlete. MJ was a lot quicker and his speed and leaping ability were in a different level. I am not going deeper into this silly comparison. I don't want to see Tatum jinxed by this kind of nonsense. He's becoming a great player just let him do that and don't compare him to this kind of all time great until and unless he is getting multiple championships and MVPs.

On the earlier play, Tatum's defenders aren't that low to the ground because Tatum is a taller guy and defenders don't expect him to get that low on the crossover - he surprised the shit out of them with that crossover

Tatum can shoot like Booker or Jordan, while also overpowering defenders at the rim and shooting turnarounds like Jordan - he's a taller, more overpowering Booker, so his scoring diversity reminds people of Mike and occasionally he looks like Mike on the play posted previously

The gap in athleticism is definitely there, but the scoring diversity is there too.. He's obviously far below MJ in various areas like triple-threat scoring, post, athleticism or 2-point jumpshooting, and more .. So I'm not saying he's the next MJ, but he looked good last night

This.

I'm a Tatum fan, but he hasn't even cracked top 5 in the league today yet, much less approached all time greatness.

Yeah no one said Tatum was MJ, but it's nice to get a reminder every once in a while of what he was like, even if it's just a glimpse - so there's no need to think this appreciation of great scoring diversity and instinct means we think Tatum is the next MJ...

But the reality is that I can't think of a scorer in today's league that is elite in more scoring categories (elite jumpshooting skill, aka elite pull-ups, elite turnarounds, elite off-screens, etc... elite post, elite off-ball, elite handle, elite slashing, elite triple threat, etc, etc, etc)

Tatum scored 50 or more points 4 times in his 24 year old short career.

Larry Bird score 50 or more points 4 times as well , his last time was when he was 37.

I have always like Tatum , but this coach seems to get him playing more team ball/
