Such a frustrating team. I feel like they think they’re better than they are and frequently play poorly against lesser teams. It wouldn’t at all shock me if they went and beat Milwaukee on the road next. And then lose to the Pacers..

Really need to get up to the 9 spot and have that first game at home.

They’re ass. Can’t defend anyone. Such a disappointment.

It was a disappointing performance for sure. Trae didn't look right last night, no explosion no lift and since the Hawks rely so much on their offense playing weak defense and poor performance by Trae almost always leads to losses like this. They need a true #2 guy to win games like this Bogi tries to be that guy but he usually tries to hard and makes bone headed mistakes in crutch time.

How come a rising bulls team couldn't defeat them last time but a laughingstock pistons team did. Bullshit.

Hunter seems to finally be getting into a groove. He shot like shit from deep last night but he's starting to attack the basket more. Just gaining confidence really.

If we can get the 9 and play the Hornets at home I would feel pretty good. Then Toronto on the road.

The Hawks have more wins against the best teams in the NBA than any other team in the east. Their problem is they lose games they should easily win against teams like Detroit, Spurs.

Hunter is playing better offensively but I don't think he will turn into that 2nd option that he looked like he might be last season. His ball handling and footwork are just too limited.

John Collins should get more shots he’s incredibly efficient.

He can't create as well as hit numbers would suggest. He's very opportunistic and a great finisher from every level but if he got more shots you'd see his efficiency take a hit.

Uh he got more shots in past years and his efficiency was still great :confusedshrug:

I mean are you talking about the offense working to get him an extra shot a game? That takes effort on everyone's part. Plus defenses are now geared on him and know what he can do. If he was a strong defender on him he isn't as useful.

Or are you talking about getting him the ball more and letting him create?

I’m really shocked by their underachievement tbh, last year’s playoffs had me thinking they were on the verge of being an elite team.

Late last season they were playing with grit, heart, determination, all of those cliches. That's how they got to the ECF.

And now they're playing like the ECF is the bar, which it's not. All of that urgency is gone.

You don‘t wanna face them in a 1-game shootout, but consistency is amiss.

Nets would beat Heat or 76ers in 1st round.

Just wait till Simmons arrives!

It's game over.

Last year Nate came in with Lloyd Pierces system and assistant coaches as was able to elevate the level of the players. This year, he brought in his guys including his son and tried to transition to his systems. The offense is better statistically but that really is a result of Trae playing great and is not because of the system they run.
The defense this season is worse than last year, they consistently leaves 3 point shooters wide open and they never attempt to play transition defense.
In the 4th quarter if they are ahead by a few points, they stand around on offense until about 8 seconds before attempting to score instead of putting pressure on the defense and taking the best shot. Nate doesn't look like a good fit, he is too set in his ways like Thibbs to take the team to the next level with all the Covid issues and Injuries he was not able to develop Jalen Johnson or Shariff Cooper into the contributors on a team with a below .500 record. Isn't it the head coaches job to set expectations for the season and create a winning culture?
