View Full Version : California's Mask Mandate Ends - How long until Covid cases skyrocket?

Mask mandates have officially ended in 49/50 states (Hawaii still has one) and movie theaters are packed with people seeing The Batman.
So the question is, how long until cases spike in the US? California?

Isn't the consensus that Omicron and all future variants will become less deadly, just like the Spanish Flu? We don't even offer testing here anymore and cases no longer matter.
All they look at are hospitalizations now.

When the Omicron hit it was known that it was very mild. But what did they do? They promoted it as the winter of death. The NYC mayor used the opportunity to force everyone to get vaccinated, else they can't make a living. (I know this girl that was vaccine injured directly because she was forced to get the shot.) Get injected with the vaccine for a virus from two years ago, for the new Omicron which is significantly different. And we must vaccinate the kids.
So what I'm saying is that I don't think that the Omicron being milder has anything to do with it, but rather the data dump from Pfizer that they tried to keep the lid on for 75 years. If it's going to show that thousands of people have gotten injured because of the vaccines, (VAERS already shows that) and things of that nature, then anyone pushing the vaccine at all cost will want to change their tune well beforehand.
I mean, it seems like one week they're talking about the Omicron, it's going to kill you, the next, it's mild, different countries suddenly stopping with the mask mandates, etc.

Did every single variant of the alpha Spanish Flu become less deadly as time went on?
"All they look at are hospitalizations." When did that occur? And btw, we have more people in the hospital with Covid-19 now than we did for most days between July - October 2020.
Finally, with statewide mask mandates ending in 49/50 states and mask compliance decreasing, how long until Covid cases skyrocket?

Hopefully never, but if the Dems somehow manage to hold on to Congress, then they will spike after midterms.

From my understanding, viruses usually mutate to become less deadly but more contagious.. which kinda makes sense considering people were literally dropping dead in China when Covid19 was 1st being reported.
Hospitalizations might be still on the higher side but considering how many people have Omicron, the percentages of being getting infected and hospitalized are drastically lower compared to the 1st few waves.
I think cases will skyrocket in the fall / winter but hopefully by then, it'll be a variant that is even less severe than Omicron.

I know several vaccinated + boosted folks who tested positive for Covid-19 while unvaccinated folk living with them never tested positive. How does that happen? Asked ID/ICU docs, nobody knows. :lol

They won't and if they do then who cares at this point. Covid is just basically the flu. It's time to go back to living normal lives. I'll never ever complain about wearing a mask if I have to and if I'm around someone that's clearly sick/old, but I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't ****ing tired of wearing masks. We've been putting up with this shit for 2 years now. It feels really good to know that now you can go to gyms/restaurants/theaters without wearing a mask and following the 6 feet apart rule. Places are opening up again and cases have been drastically down. Slowly but surely we're going back to living lives from pre-covid again.

The first variant was a disease that caused people to suddenly collapse and die in the streets? I hope you're joking... and, two years later, I hope you still don't believe people were literally dropping dead from Covid-19 in this video: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/china/video-2094890/Video-Dramatic-footage-shows-people-collapsing-suddenly-Wuhan-city.html (39 seconds in my favorite one lol)
You said "all they look at are hospitalizations." I asked when did that occur, so please respond. And again, what you're saying is that cases are higher, which means it is more prevalent, so people are more likely to catch Covid-19 - wouldn't this be more of a reason to wear a mask indoors?
I think cases will skyrocket in the fall / winter but hopefully by then, it'll be a variant that is even less severe than Omicron.
Why would it take 6 to 9 months for cases to skyrocket if the mask mandates just ended and "high-risk" places like movie theaters are packed full? Experts say Just Wait Two Weeks.

In Ontario, they don't look at cases anymore. In fact, they won't even let us get tested.
I'm guessing cases will go up in the Fall because that's cold and flu season. When the weather gets colder, people spend more time indoors.

I wonder if anti-maskers will start wearing face masks now that the mandates are lifted?
If an anti-masker came up to me and asked why I'm wearing a mask:
"I'm not a sheep, I don't do what the govt tells me"
"My body my choice"
"Wearing a mask blocks me from the govt's face recognition tech. Why are you letting the govt track you?"

I heard California even had a mask mandate for outdoors at one point. Crazy. Someone on Twitter brought up an interesting point. When you're masked all day long, you're literally reuptaking massive amounts of CO2. When we breathe we inhale oxygen and when we exhale we give off carbon dioxide. Oxygen is one of the most core principles to health. Trees produce oxygen rich environments. The healthiest thing you can do is to sit in a beautiful forest and just take deep breaths. So by making people wear a heavy mask everywhere all day and stay "locked down" you're inherently basically suffocating them. So many people are retarded that they would let the government mandate they be muzzled and confined in this manner.

1) Do you really think the first variant was a disease that caused people to suddenly collapse and die in the streets? I hope you're joking... and, two years later, I hope you still don't believe people were literally dropping dead from Covid-19 in this video: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/china/video-2094890/Video-Dramatic-footage-shows-people-collapsing-suddenly-Wuhan-city.html (39 seconds in my favorite one lol)
2) You said "all they look at are hospitalizations." I asked when did that occur, so please respond.
3) Well they may want to update their website because a lot of their data collection shows they care about cases too. https://www.ontario.ca/page/how-ontario-is-responding-covid-19
Ontario is working with its partners in the health care system implementing a robust plan to monitor for, detect and, if needed, isolate any cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus. The Ministry of Health is taking several steps to ensure the health and safety of Ontarians.
Furthermore, a simple search for recent news says https://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/ontario-remove-mask-mandates-march-21-83342138
The province of Ontario said improving health indicators such as a stable COVID-19 test positivity rate and declining hospitalizations, as well as Ontario’s high vaccination rates and the availability of antiviral treatments, allow for these steps.
Their first reason for removing one of their mask mandates later this month (it's not even removed yet) is because of a stable case rate. They wouldn't have mentioned this if case rates didn't matter.
4) But why won't cases skyrocket without mask mandates and packed "high-risk areas" like movie theaters? No masks, packed theaters, no more social distancing... isn't that a recipe for skyrocketing cases?

People who don't want to wear masks will not wear a mask unless it is compulsory.

Thanks for your answer, but why do they want to go back to living normal lives if the virus is still circulating? What's the difference between now and say, 3 months ago? 4 months ago? 5 months ago?
Mask mandates have been extended for places like airports, for example. And we have Trump's extreme travel restrictions on countries around the world. - Why? When (if ever) did these make sense?

Yes, but washing hands takes 20 seconds after you get back from your lunch break, doesn't feel bad, so nobody cares. Kinda like how you can't drink your alcohol on a plane and if you do it's a $30,000 fine. I'm sure you also find this insane. Anyway... Wearing a mask 40+ hours/wk is annoying AF. Billions of masks worn everywhere is way more costly, impacts the environment, and is bad for society. That's why way more people complain about that shit.

Yep, wearing a mask for 40+ hrs a week sucks. I have no issues with people wearing or not wearing a mask once mandates are all lifted. What I do have issues about are the people working retail that feel safer wearing a mask at work.. but will get ridiculed by customers.
Their jobs suck already, and it's about to get worse when the crazy anti-mask crowds enter their stores.
People preach things like "my body, my choice" but then go ahead and bully minimum wage workers that want to wear a mask to work.

But the cases did not increase.

Inhaling extra CO2 is not particularly harmful... I would be a lot more concerned about inhaling microplastics (if you have one of those blue surgical masks), or getting a bacterial infection in the lungs from the bacteria that will grow on a cloth mask that is not washed every single day.

I would guess that the reason cases have declined 92% is because they arent doing regular mass testing in places like schools and corporations anymore.
Anyway, IMO there are aspects of germ theory that start to seem a little flimsy the more you look at them... Bacteria/Fungi/Protists definitely exist and cause infections, but the "science" behind viruses/vaccines is far from solid.
