View Full Version : Embiid should not win the MVP; the top two should be Giannis and Jokic

Joel has had a great season but he's clearly the third best player out of those three. Giannis is the most dominant player in basketball since prime Shaq, he's leading the NBA in scoring and he has a good chance to win defensive player of the year. Jokic is also the most skilled big man since Prime Bird and he's carrying a mediocre roster to the postseason. I see little argument for Embiid over those two guys.

There's not a guy in Tinseltown vying for MVP, just one putting up big box scores on a trash team.

Embiid is nowhere near as good as Jokic. Or Kevin Durant. He's an overrated flopper and faller. He does have nice skill for his size but he spends half the game on his back. He's weak.

Jokic and Giannis should be the only ones with a case. Embiid and Morant have missed too many games. You're only valuable to your team if you're playing.

Embiid hasn't missed that many games, only 12 by my count. That isn't bad. Assuming he stays healthy the rest of the year that shouldn't disqualify him from MVP.

I just think Jokic has been better

I agree top 2 should be Jokic and Giannis but I think only Jokic has a case. He's been that good.

Giannis isn't good enough for a third MVP and Jokic hasn't earned a 2nd MVP. Derozen, Butler, Paul, Booker, Lebron and Embiid are all better options.

its only hype at this point.

It HAS to be Jokic.

By far.

If Luka makes it to top 5 in the league by record, then the MVP should be his.

His roster is easily the worst of those in the MVP running.

Denver was 3rd in the West last year and have fallen to the 6th seed. I keep telling you guys there's an aspect to winning baked into the MVP award. Jokic will not win MVP.

I doubt the voters will pay much attention to the seedings lol. They will surely look at the records. Denver is 1 game behind Philly in spite of Murray and MPJ being out all year.

Denver is 40-27. Considering what they've had to overcome their record is a positive, not a negative.

Honestly Doncic has been really flying under the radar.

Yeah he came into the season struggling and out of shape but has been a beast lately.

What jokic is doing with way less talent is more impressive than last year.

Rogueborg keeps repeating this but hasn't thought it through. Last year Murray/MPJ averaged a combined 40 points and Denver was winning at a 53 win pace. Those two are out this year and they are winning at a 48 win pace.

He's weak.I still think Durant's the best player in the world. He has the most reliable game for a playoff setting- dude shoots 58% between 16 ft and the arc. Not a typo, 58%. Jokic is mvp since he hasn't missed many games, but Morant will win it. Fans love it too much when flashy young guards lead teams to good records.

OP made this post after Philly game not knowing that Jokic was even more trash then Embiid last night. Jokic literally has trouble moving and dribbling the ball dude is gonna be terrible once he gets older. Embiid all day

:facepalm

Denver was playing their 4th game in 5 nights and Jokic dropped 23/12/9. He just couldn't make a 3 on tired legs. He has been putting up monster numbers lately.

They were tied with a few minutes left and they just ran out of gas. Against GS.

As for Giannis-

It's hard to win mvp the year after your team wins the championship; impossible if the team finishes lower than first in the conference.

Embiid is soft.. Sixers aren't coming out of East

Philly also has no M.O. of how to handle adversity because Harden/Embiid have little experience together

a lot of MVP is based on how he takes his team to the playoffs as well as seeding.
Could we not say Booker from the Suns has an argument.
All round play I have always like Giannis , but I like him more this year as DPY ...
jokic .8 block with 1.4 steals
Giannis 1.4 blocks with 1.1 steals

Some nights neither player has a block , and then next game 4 or 5.

Giannis 30 ppg 11 boards and 6 dimes .... tough to beat (.)

How was jokic “more trash” than JE last night?
