It's nobody's fault but Westbrick that he suddenly can't hit the broad side of a barn. He was never a shooter, now he just straight up sucks in that regard( including free throws, his percentages dropped like a rock 5 years ago). I, for one, absolutely love the Lakers organization being forced by their babied superstar , into trading away their entire future for a “downhill from here” stat-padding, team-wrecking, turnover machine like Westbrick.

It really achieved so many objectives in one quick move:

1. Harmed LeBron’s needy/help-heavy legacy
2. Further harmed Westbrick’s already shaky legacy of selfish, team-harming stat-padding.
3. Ensured neither LeBron nor Westbrick would ever compete for another championship.
4. Harmed Lakers team chemistry going forward, since everyone knows Pelinka didn’t want Westbrick, and many teammates didn’t either, but Bran forced it by threatening to go back home to Leaveland.
5. Exposed Westbrick for what he truly is, on the biggest nationally televised stage.
6. Showcased the evolution of the evolving game/league, by showcasing the dying playstyle (ball dominant low IQ play), as that very playstyle was being fazed out for not being able to work against other more modern styles (ball movement, team efficiency, low turnovers)

This was a great trade for basketball history. It achieved so much that will benefit the game long term.

People forget that the 04' Pistons and 11' Mavs didn't win based on superior talent - they won by developing the best chemistry and brand of ball in the league, just like the Spurs, Warriors or 90's Bulls -learning the best brand is required of all organic winners, so Lebron never learned superior brand (how to win.. organic) - he only learned talent-based winning (team-hopping, all-star team strategy).

In addition to not knowing how to win (organic), his high scoring is too ball-dominant to beat good teams and lacks the elite jumpshooting skill needed to defeat maximum defensive attention (carry the scoring load in playoffs and Finals of title run).. He simply can't win as the only go-to scorer, and therefore needs juggernaut go-to scorers at sidekick (1b's).
