View Full Version : How can you say Lebron is the Goat, when we have Jordan, Chamberlain and Kareem?

It makes no sense. Whether it's stats, winning or having the heart of a champ, Lebron does not come out on top. It just doesn't add up. You guys who think he's the Goat don't have any good reasons. It's frustrating to reason with some people. I think it's okay to think he's maybe top 10. He has longevity and will have the highest stats. But if you watch the game, there's no way you can honestly say he's the best. He's NOT. You can't say it with every ounce in your heart. You know it's not true. You only say it because of your emotions. But eye test and common sense does NOT support Lebron.

The majority don't consider him goat. Even younger fans who you'd think would say bron because he's more relevant are saying mj or someone else.

The fact that we allow a player that supercolluded throughout his career as lebron has and be mentioned in the same conversation as the other greats is a great mystery to me.

If you ever wondered what gets sent when a post is reported(with username removed of course):

And that was on the third one.

Now 4 back to back to back to back?

The 3 probably was enough. Not like there is a speck of new ground to be broken on the subject to justify logging into your alt and spamming away an afternoon.

Lebronstans are so desperate that make up desperate narratives. The large majority of people know it's Jordan.

Lebron is the king of stat-padding. Those stats as impressive as they look on paper have brought him a Finals losing record. If a now 37-year old Lebron ever wins another ring, he would have to win 2 after that just to get over .500.

Well...

Wilt Chamberlain is likely the greatest player one on one in the top ten. He could do literally everything on the court from scoring, defense, and assists, and rebounding. But he still lost more than he won.

Michael Jordan left rings on the table and took forever to build a championship team. He has a losing series record against Isiah Thomas who is a low top ten PG of all-time and he never beat Larry Bird when it counted. Also...I have a strong hunch that he bet on basketball.

Larry Bird passes the eye test as the GOAT, he was a hell of a shooter but he was also a great passer and mind for the game...but his career was short and he only won three rings.

Bill Russell is the greatest champion in NBA history but his skills are rebounding and defense not scoring can you be the goat and be the third/fourth/fifth option.

Magic Johnson was the inverse of Bill Russell. Nine final appearances in 13 seasons, and while Russell might be the best center of all-time Magic dominated his position.

George Mikan is the guy who I always pump up, the man founded the NBA played 10 seasons with 8 finals appearances and 5 rings, he had the least amount of help

Kareem who was the greatest long term player of all-time but his prime years he wasn't really that successful. Most of his success came when Magic came along at the twilight of his career.

So Lebron is in the top eight, you can call him the GOAT because he's the greatest PF of all-time. He's a five position player and has the greatest finals victory of all the players (coming back from 3-1 against a team with multiple hall of famers), also it's not like he has longevity but the value in his longevity competing for the scoring title and basically not even declining entering his 20th season. He's taken a bunch of All-stars in losing situations and won them titles and secured Hall of Fame spots.

jordon: 1-9 record, zero .500 seasons without The Great Scott Pippen. Also, way worse longevity, as well as a worse peak than LeBron Too easy. Next.
Wilt: Biggest drop from regular season career ppg to playoff career ppg. But even if he wasn't such a playoffs/finals choker, he played in an era that was way too different to be compared directly to LeBron
Kareem: The toughest of the three to argue against, but still a clearly inferior overall body of work than LeBron, especially after LeBron breaks his scoring record, the thing he is mostly known for.

2011 nullifies every smear you applied to past greats theCorp.

the differences between giving your best and playing the game like it's your last is literally life and death.

Karl Malone has "longevity" stat's Lebron's been the NBA's best player for almost 20 years now. We don't measure Durant against Giannis or Durant against Kobe...we measure them against Lebron. He is the best player of a generation...how you judge/value this generation is up for debate.

You've got what 10 people who have dedicated their lives to ripping this man....it's almost like a religion at this point.

This website is a haven for the lebron fans. They don't get this much support on reddit so is natural they come here
