In 1997-98 he barely played half of the games during the season, yet was still considered dominant enough compared to the competition throughout the rest of the league to be selected to the all-defensive 1st team. And All-NBA 3rd team.

What is the record for the lowest amount of games played in an 82 game season, yet still being considered dominant enough to be given an award or individual honor? All-star selections don't count, since there are examples of undeserving players not playing at all yet being selected.

The definition of 2nd option is 2nd scoring option, and Pippen is the worst scorer of any 90's sidekick if we go by peak scoring capability and efficiency - everyone else was a go-to player and elite scoring threat except Pippen, whose worst-ever efficiency confirms that he couldn't handle a 2nd option load..

Pippen is the only sidekick that was more of an athlete/hustler than a scoring option, so only Jordan faced maximum defensive attention (carried scoring load).. Pippen has the lowest peak of any 90's sidekick (22/5), while also being the only sidekick that never achieved elite scoring, rebounds or assists in any series and never led a series (never a 1b).

Everyone's best was better than Pippen's.. Pippen never reached peak-Horry level in the Finals (95' Finals gamescore).. The timeline of his career shows that he was propped up by the triangle and dynasty chemistry and otherwise was a 14 ppg dunker that couldn't score.
