How is he any worse than say, '93 Barkley or '97 Malone?

I can easily see Jokic winning MVP in those years on the right team.

The competition was too stiff. Barkley was too dominant and his narrative was too tightly wound with going to Phoenix and winning 60+ games in dominant fashion. Then you have MJ winning MVPs and Hakeem in the mid 90's (because he better than Jokic offensively and defensively) and then you have a post prime Jokic falling off while Karl Malone stays steady with the Jazz and they win 60+.

Drop him on the late 80's early 90's Cavs teams and they still get eviscerated by the Bulls because MJ would be dunking all over him. Drop him on the early 90's Clippers or Golden State and he'd never make it out of the West.

What if you put Jokic in a similar situation team wise as Barkley was in '93? It's not like '93 Barkley was a better player than current Jokic, Karl Malone brings nothing special to the table, there are a handful of guys better than him in today's NBA.

Nothing wrong with some good ol' McHale posting. To be honest, anything other than LeBron, Kobe, and MJ is a welcome changeup. Need more posts about past players.
