Player A also requires the best shooting help in the league (or close to it), while Player B has elite jumpshooting skill and production off-screens, so he plays the shooter role himself and therefore needs less shooting help.

Ultimately, scoring help is the "star" help, aka the rarer and harder-to-acquire help.. Otoh, solid rebounders, defenders, hustlers and low-turnover guys are called role players and they're easy to find.

Not someone who is only going to give me 11 full seasons of prime play.

If you refused 2 three-peats in those 11 full seasons, you wouldn't deserve the job.. maybe any job

Sorry, we are not in the short 3 point line era anymore.

Shrunk court = harder to score and easier defense

the numbers don't lie

So Jordan could three-peat without go-to teammates in any era - the regular line or short line or no line and probably 4-point line i'm sure

B sounds like the far superior player who doesn't need another high-quality scorer to close games for him.

in b4 the "comp" argument, which fails when a player was expected to have the best team as the preseason favorite for a half dozen years in a row - so the "comp" argument simply weaponizes him having weaker teams than expected

you wouldn't have to 'build' around player B. just about every time he plays a basketball game, he wins.
