Jordan wasn't focused on shortgevity, the environment itself was shortgevity, "it's good to not be a player, you can coach, work in management/front office, work in broadcasting, the life outside of being a player while still being apart of the basketball world is glamorous"

Jordan needed to be the best in the league, I think a big reason for that was his sponsorships. It made more sense when it came to money to retire than to play and fall behind Shaq, Duncan, AI, and Kobe. He came back because he was led to believe that he would end up owning the Wizards. I think also a number of players retired or cycled off whatever doping they were doing because they saw what was happening in baseball.

Very well put OP :applause:
People will take it as a knock on Jordan but it isnt. MJ simply realized Pippen was his key to success, so he invested everything he possibly could into the Pippen era and blowing his max load in a truncated time frame. After that he had nothing much to contribute.
Lebron took the long view and said “I can win anywhere, with anyone, and I’m going to focus on playing at a sustained high level.”
And the difference is clear in their all time positioning. MJ’s got a Top 5 spot, albeit clinging to it for dear life like a cowboy atop a rampaging bull, while Lebron’s anchored his luxury yacht in a private harbor reserved for the undisputed GOAT.
Nobody has to he upset by this. We can appreciate all the great players of yesterday and today.

Jordan just didn't have the mental and physical toughness to grind out a 20 year career. The nba season is very long...sept training camp to june finals. He also lacked elite two way perimeter competition so that was a factor also. Maybe he has more to prove or maybe he burns out faster.

if "The state of war endures in perpetuity", in what world do you deserve any nutrients. Remember, those are your words.
The state of war enduring in perpetuity is just a fact of life, whether you and I want it to be or not. And you're slightly misguided, because nutrients are acquired, not deserved or undeserved. You have to understand the nutrient flow if you're going to make sense of how the cosmic pieces fall into their steady range.

Such sad and pathetic need to troll to make them believe LeBron is GOAT.
I don’t think Jordan’s fans in the early to mid to late 90s needed to do such mental gymnastics to try to convince others he was GOAT. People just saw what they saw, and knew.
What’s understood didn’t have to be explained.

jordon sat out entire seasons because he wanted to boost his averages.
If you look at his career low averages in 1997-98 and Wizards seasons, it becomes mathematically clear that had he played 2 more seasons, his career ppg would've dropped significantly.
Had he played at ages 36 and 37, his career numbers would've been 27 ppg on a 47% FG%, 5 rpg and 4 apg. He was incapable of having a GIRTHY and slow decline of one LeBron James.

Do you honestly see the cakewalk offensive players have today driving to the basket, not having any hand-checking, and spamming 3-pointers as physically more difficult than the 90s and 2000's? You are either a troll or seriously need to be educated.
Boris Diaw and Jason Terry outplayed your hero. Learn to live with it. LeBron is an all-time great, he will never be GOAT.

Lies, Jordan feared the zone defense and was ineffective in the early 2000s without taking players such as Muggsy Bogues and Jeff Hornacek on one-on-one. Imagine if he had to play against sophisticated defenses with tall athletic players, in his own words he’d be more like DeMar Derozan

^Jordan also didn't play with wide-open lanes of today where practically any player can Waltz down the lane for easy dunks and layups, with no hand-checking and diminished shot-blocking. He was literally one the best drivers of all time playing in a much harder time to drive than in this era. He would have feasted on these soft rules.
And regardless of what he stated here, whenever he actually did face a zone, including college, the Olympics and the unenforced zones of his own era, he routinely torched them.
