Shaq said he(himself) should have 3. I assume Shaq would say 2000 and 2005 with either 01 or 02 as well(maybe 02 since he’s always been very pro Iverson).

Wade I suppose has to think 06, 09, or 10. Probably 2009 if I had to guess.

If you had to give Wade a year which would it be?

He was next to shaq and then his team wasn't good enough after that.

I think people really underrate 2006 shaq. He was still putting up huge numbers in the east finals (carried wade in closeout game vs pistons) and still double teamed in finals. I would say he was still like 2007 Duncan level.

'09 I think, based on his own performance. But unfortunately for Wade, LeBron was G.O.A.T.E.D that year.

I'd agree

Definitely agree. Through the first three rounds in the east, he put up 20.1/9.6 on 61.3% FG with 1.7 blocks. That's pretty solid for a second option.

Shaq's free throw shooting was nightmarish in the '06 Finals: 2.3/8.0 attempts, 29.2% FT.

Probably not surprising why Miami would keep the ball away from him.

Wade was obviously MVP level, but he never had a year where he was the most deserving player. Even his insane '09 season LeBron was the clear cut MVP that year.

How does bran lose with a player 2 years out of being an mvp?

He's correct. He could've had one because he was up there with the best players in the league like Kobe, Garnett, Nowitzki, CP. Unfortunately Lebron James exist and was on a different level during those times.

shaq always says he should have won it in 05 and 06. which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever for 06. he averaged 20/9 and played 59 games

I think shaq or malone should have gotten mvp in 1998 over jordan. Jordan should have gotten mvp in 97 though

shaq coulda also won it in 2001 but he had Kobe and Iverson had nobody.

he definitely shoulda got it in 2005. so shaq having 2 or 3 is realistic

he may even have had a case in 1995. as for wade he probly deserved it in 2009 over lebron. but kobe also had claim to that 2009 award. both guys were far more proven than lebron was at the time

He could have won in 06 I guess.

Nah, he has a really weak case for MVP that year imo. He put up excellent numbers, but the Heat only won 52 games after being expected to win nearly 60, and they went 10-13 without Shaq. The top 4 candidates from that year all had better cases, even Brand who led a very pedestrian Clippers team to their first winning season in over a decade.

I don't think Wade was ever worthy of MVP in any given season, but if I would absolutely have to give him one, it would be 2006. He was top 5 in VORP, WS/48, PER, BPM and Miami actually had pretty good RS record, good enough for 2nd seed in the East at least.

He was an MVP caliber player, but his teams were never good or bad enough. If the Heat got Bosh for '11, but not Lebron he might've gotten it.
