If Mavs get Gobert, that's a dynasty, that's potential 3-peat.

What do they have to offer though?

The bulls will also try to pursue him if he becomes available in the upcoming offseason.

If Gobert goes, then does Mitchell go as well?

Unless Jazz blow it all up, then I don't see Mavs having any pieces that Jazz would be interested in

Doesn't make sense, Luka would operates better with a stretch 5 instead of a center who must live in the paint.

Being interested if a DPOY big is available isn’t really saying much is it? Just because he isn’t what our resident homer fan thinks doesn’t make him unwanted. His contract won’t be that weird after the next rights deal either.

Seeing what the sixers got for Ben I’d imagine they’d want a haul the mavs can’t offer though.

a center that will set him screens, have roll gravity, hit the glass and save his ass on D. One of the best players in the league or just a guy that hits 3's. Take your pick

Not true.

Powell doesn't shoot at all, only dunks on alley oops from Luka.

Gobert would be perfect in that role.

Would probably have to be some 3 way deal and a bunch of picks.

Mavs have some pieces that could be traded to a tanking team, someone like THJ is good as tank commander. Brunson, Josh Green might be worth something for the same team. Some picks.

He had that. He ran him off the team

Wouldnt make sense IMO considering their current depth is average at best, realistically a bit below average. Depth is an underrated aspect of contending, and the Mavs would have to sacrifice what little they have to make a trade. I dont see Toody as enough of a difference maker to justify it.

If they could somehow get him for nothing that’s completely different. But they obviously cant.

Every team in the league does.

He is not camping out on the low block either. They are spacing the floor so Luka can drive and kick. Powell doesn't even score 10 points a game. Dallas is already a highly ranked defensive team under Kidd why would they need Gobert who can't stretch the floor either? It makes no sense.

I don't see any deal that makes sense for Utah. Even if they decided to blow it up and rebuild through the draft Dallas can't offer high draft picks.

Agreed.

Maybe the Knicks for misfit Randle and Noel

If your selling point is these guys can help teams tank then you probably don’t have much to offer

They're a good defensive team because of effort and switching and defensive schemes.

They get bullied over and over against teams with real centers. Their response is then to have Luka try to play the center of the floor on the side of the ball.

Also, Powell does not camp in the paint, but he does literally nothing offensively but set screens and dunk, a role Gobert would be perfect for.

You're right.

I would say both THJ and Brunson are good sixth man type of players at reasonable contracts. We don't know much Brunson will get, but Mavs might be able to do a sign and trade.

A trade with a contender would make sense, both Brunson and THJ, for someone lacking bench scoring.

Any team could use Gobert's defense, but that doesn't mean it's the ideal fit.
I just think a center like Ayton is a better fit and he will be a free agent. The role you are talking about could be filled by Mitchel Robinson or Miles Turner which are available players and do not require compensation.

90sgoat

Miles Turner is a bad fit, he is more like Porzingis, jump shooter, and doesn't hustle or rebound.

We're talking trying to create a championship team here.

Ayton would be an upgrade, but Gobert is far superior to Ayton on the right team.
