just wrestlemanias for wwe. AEW was good for a while. I appreciate the art of wrestling in the ring. not so much the soap opera/storylines.
a good match that makes sense and tells a story is timeless. a classic example is the bret hart vs British bulldog Summerslam match from 1992. it's technical wrestling with real family implications and a home country with a buzz like its the world cup. its like watching a movie play out in real time with perfect acting and stunt work all in one take.
far better than any performance an Oscar winners ever done with thousands of takes and rehearsals and directors telling them what to do. this is all in brets mind and he orchestrates every move on the fly cause bulldog was hung over and forgot everything they had gone over.

il never understand the embarrassment some people have for watching a live scripted TV show. how is it any different than a movie except its more impressive. it's just actors with athleticism
if you saw the movie they live with Roddy piper then you watched wrestling with aliens involved. that's even more out there than his wwf stuff

People watch movies (at least I do) mostly for the story/entertainment. Story plays a big part.
I never got why people get into wrestling, it's 2 men fake fighting out there. Sure there is also storylines in wrestling, but they are dog shit compared to a good story in a movie for example.
When I was in elementary and in like 6th grade I was a big wrestling fan. Goldberg was my favorite wrestler because of how dominant he was, I remember NWO and all of that. But by the time I hit 13 or 14 I had completely outgrown it, haven't watched it since.
I will say though, I stumbled upon this vid a few months back and had a huge kick out of it, brought back some memories...

some people watch action movies for the action and stunts. not the story.
unless you think Rambo sequels were good stories.
was commando a good story
was bloodsport a good story
bruce Lee movies?
Jackie Chan movies?
and during the attitude era there actually was some good story telling. but again that's not why I watched it. I was a fan of bret hart, dynamite kid, Mr perfect, Kurt angle, Chris benoit, Eddie guerrero, Owen hart and foreign guys like tiger mask and Justin thunder liger.
I could go back and watch all their matches without needing some stupid gimmicky childish storyline or promo. that's for casual fans
the fact that you liked goldberg and the nwo means you were a casual. you probly like ric flair woos and the dx chops and them saying suck it.
that's not the wrestling I'm talking about that's timeless. the technical ring IQ and execution, flow, selling, finish. that's real wrestling. not that gimmicky stuff

His match with Owens was entertaining. He moved really well for a 57 year old. Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair was match of the night. Rollins vs Cody Rhodes was a close second IMO.

The old WCW Steamboat/Flair matches from the early 90s are classics.....pure technical wrestling without alot of pyrotechnics and soap opera bullshit.
