View Full Version : As a huge Zach Lavine stan, I'm disappointed

Not only he allowed Derozan to cuck him by taking over his team, but his development also stagnated this season. His court vision is still average, hes basically just looking to toss it to Vuc on the pnr every time hes the ball handler. Playing with Vuc really limited his approach to passing.

He also hasn't expanded his game with more countermoves, which he needed to do since he lost a bit of quickness it seems. About 70 percent of his moves is bump into the defender then take a stepback. Because of this hes still taking too many long midrange shots.

Also his threeball has not been as great this season because hes taking too many off balance contested threes. Just overconfident. Youre great dude, but you aint Curry level great.

He needs to add some moves to his on ball repertoire in order to get to the rim, learn to make skip passes, and get back to that defensive effort he had last year since its becoming obvious hes never going to develop the necessary defensive instinct to be a plus on that department. Because of Caruso and Ball hes been chilling on the defensive side this season, and if you could excuse him in the previous years because he was carrying the scoring load, this one is inexcusable.

tl;dr Lavine needs to get his shit together because his shortcomings will be the Bulls undoing in the playoffs. I love the guy, but I can criticize him (watch and learn pathetic ass LeTards). Hes still a top 5 SG in the league but I expected him to be #1 this season and he hasn't made the jump like he did in previous seasons.

The bulls aren't going to do so well in the postseason if lonzo ball will miss more time.

Even if Lonzo plays, Lavine needs to do better than he is doing now.

I was never a fan of Lavine, doesn't seem to be a high IQ player.

Hes got decent IQ. Very few players in the league are high IQ. His problem is not IQ but poor court vision, overconfidence in his shooting and poor defensive effort.

Even when he scores, it's always been hollow. Some scorers are that 6th man type. Even as starters or all stars. He doesn't get momentum buckets. Or impactful buckets. Or clutch buckets. Or take over the game string of buckets. Not all baskets are created equal. It takes the eye test to see that. Cream always rises to the top. That's why in not even a full half season, it was obvious Demar Derozan was the Bulls best player since pre ACL tear Derrick Rose.

he has a knee injury tbf. We will see how he is next year once he gets paid and derozan is a year older

Yeah, he just seems to want to bomb away from 3, while he should be attacking the basket relentlessly and creating from there.

I actually tend to agree with this assessment. And I think because of that he needs to stay very efficient (above 50% from the field and 40 from three), develop greater scoring variety, and play better defense in order for his scoring to have impact.
