after Rudy T stepped down they called it a year. Kobe and Odom both sat out 20 games and they still won 3 more games than this year's disaster with lebron chasing the scoring title and Westbrook playing every game

chris mihm > Anthony davis

Chucky Atkins > Russell Westbrick

2005 Kobe: 28-38, 42% W-L
2022 LeBron: 25-31, 45% W-L

2005 Lakers: +500 preseason odds
2022 Lakers: +425 preseason odds

Just the fact you think a 37 year old LeBron should be compared to a peak 26 year old Kobe kinda speaks volumes on it's own :lol

That 2005 team severely underachieved. It was suppose to be Kobe's breakout season as the first option and leader of the team.

Instead, he led them to the lottery.

I was just about to say this. And then peak Kobe played more games than 37 year old Lebro, and somehow the OP considers this to be a criticism of Lebron. It's more an indictment of peak Kobe.

Is 2022 worse than 2011? I didn't even think that was possible..

The 2022 Lakers were title contenders and instead Lebron is heading to the lottery.

He was so sure of that lineup that he taunted the people to "keep the energy up". He badly wanted to prove to everyone that the team he assembled int he "War Room" is going to get them revenge.

Isn't that the point though? Look at the team Kobe (who wasn't at his "peak" in 2005) played with compared to LeBron. The 2022 Lakers had far greater expectation - they shouldn't be missing the playoffs, much less have a -500 record.

Anthony Davis is the only good player on the team besides LeBron and he barely played.

What's your definition of good? :confusedshrug: If its based on impact, there are multiple players on the Lakers who have a positive one.

WHO?

Westbrook (who I think has been a joke this year) is a positive in RPM and Malik Monk is a positive in ORPM. Impact aside, what is "good" to you?

Westbrook's advanced metrics have been atrocious this year

51%TS
.032 WS/48
-1.6 BPM
0.2 VORP

His PER, BPM & VORP are literally identical to 2016 Kobe's.

Those aren't impact stats, though. Play-by-play and things outside a boxscore aren't captured. Not taking up for Westbrook, but he's still better than Chucky Atkins lol

I honestly wonder what real Lakers fans think of LeBron.

If that dude was playing in Toronto, I'd be booing him at every single game.

Literally all of Westbrook's impact stats are bad besides RPM including on/off, you look desperate. Monk is a positive on offense idk if he's positive overall though. RPM has been a joke this year, they changed the formula again and the results make no sense now. Use EPM and RAPTOR

Likewise in Boston. Would never want him here.

stop it. Lakers tanked after Rudy T stepped down with a winning record. Kobe was mailing it in before shuttng it down (see 2006 for comparison)

lebron and Westbrook going full throttle with a championship coach lmao

The results are fine. You're making excuses lol. Objectively, most players considered the "best" are ranked as such. That's all beside the point though. The '05 Lakers (who also battled injury) didn't have the lofty expectations this 2022 team did. According to Vegas odds, this is one of the biggest underachieving teams in history. Just own it :confusedshrug:

Kobe missed a month of the season from mid January to mid February. When he came back, the team was still above .500 at 25-23. He proceeded to play in 32 of the Lakers final 34 games of the season, averaging 39 mpg over that span, he didn't shut down shit :lol

Vegas had the '05 Lakers at +500 preseason, this years Lakers were +425, not that significant a difference.

Vegas had this team making the finals. Then again, they also had Brooklyn there......who've obviously underachieved.

You kind of are though. Most of the elite players are ranked accordingly in RPM. Their top 5 is basically the same as "LEBRON" lol. No catch-all impact stat is perfect, but that is obvious.

tank job. we all saw his average go from 27ppg to 35ppg and making the playoffs the next season with the only real difference being kwame and smush over mihm and atkins

it was a rebuild year and zero expectations. unlike this year's title favorite Lakers lol
