I don't know what this means in terms of how Twitter is run or used, but it certainly helps Twitter maintain it's relevance as a social media giant.

If you can't beat 'em buy 'em I guess.

Plus with the government going after all his money, he might as well invest it in some entertaining stuff rather than just hand it over to Uncle Sam

Twitter stocks are up big time after this news. Let's face it, Twitter wasn't going anywhere unless someone built something vastly superior, which no one has done yet. I specifically use Twitter to keep up with trade rumors, and I doubt die-hard Libs like WOJ was going to jump ship and join another social media platform. So if you hated Twitter for their censorship and their obvious slant towards the Left, you're basically stuck using them cause you would have no other method to get the information you're used to getting with ease.

And perhaps that's what Elon was thinking. There have been several attempts to form something that's different from Twitter, but since Twitter has literally been around for as long as it has, it's better just to get control of it, and modify it yourself. He is clearly pro Free Speech, so perhaps his influence can establish a new culture over at Twitter and weed out all the bad seeds from that company who unjustly censored content and members solely due to their political ideology.

All the conservative pundits on Twitter are now demanding Musk reinstate Trump and I think Musk is going to have a very difficult time trying to sell his notion of free speech without lifting the Trump ban. But this leads to a couple of questions. First does Musk even have that power or does the board have to vote on it? Second now that Trump is neck deep in his new Truth Social platform does he even want to return to Twitter and if he did return would that been seen as him giving up?

Censorship actually leans "conservative". It wasn't liberals trying to ban rap music it was Christian conservatives. Maybe the traditional roles got flipped when it came to Trump being banned from Twitter but "to hell with censorship" is not a Republican take.

Elon himself is more of a leftist and endorsed Andrew Yang for President.

Nah censorship like this from the Left has been happening way before Trump. I remember there were hearings on Capitol Hill between guys like Zuckerberg and Dorsey and there was evidence that users that leaned Conservative were shadow banned and all that. Then, they completely went off the rails and just started banning period. All of a sudden, "disinformation" is getting banned. Like, who cares if what someone posts is incorrect or misleading? You don't have to listen to them.

The Right never said we should censor Fake News. That's actually not a political platform taken by the Right. Besides, the Right doesn't even have the means. All media including Social Media is controlled and operated by Left-leaning groups and individuals. They are the arbiters of what they perceive the truth to be.

The thing about "disinformation" on Twitter is who is in charge of assessing what is factual and what is not? Is there a team? And why should there be a team in the first place? Let the user decide what to believe in.

Seen that and painolympic many years ago. I think in HS. I felt ill afterwards. Painolympic especially gave me nightmares for couple days and when I went to piss. There was this other video where a puppy was put in a microwave oven & turned on by some sick teenagers, and I had tears. I don't know if it was real or fake, but I couldn't finish watching. That also gave me nightmares.. Sh!t like this needs to be censored and banned..

In the 50s, conservatives tried to ban rock n roll because it was the devil's work :oldlol:

Anyways, "to hell with censorship" is more of a libertarian view and classic liberal. Not exactly modern conservatives or a lot of modern day liberals.

Dont see how it changes Twitter’s policy outlook. Executives have a fiduciary duty to share holders writ large. If being a cuckold echo chamber is in the best financial interest of Twitter, theyll continue to be so. If they believe loosening restrictions on speech will pave the way to greater revenue, then that’s what theyll do.

Ultimately stock value will dictate their policy future. The only other factor would be Congress, and theyre obviously not fighting for speech protection on Twitter any time soon.

Twitter has never been a leftist echo chamber or an echo chamber of any kind. It's users go there for a multitude of reasons. To promote their business, to look at sports trades like Chewing, to show off their bikini body, to post puppy dog memes, etc.

That is the reason all these others failed so miserably (Truth Social, Parler, Gab, Gettr, etc) because they just present themselves as echo chambers for the right where it is just 100% political ranting. They completely overlooked the fact that the average social media post isn't even political in nature.

Musk isn't even all that conservative; he just isn't a full blown libtard. He's more of a classical liberal in the way of Bill Maher. In other words, he's a reasonable person. That's why libtards are losing their shit. They need to have all of their "own people" in every position of influence; otherwise, their agenda wont succeed.

This is absolute bullshit. The rap music ban was spearheaded by Tipper Gore, Al Gore's wife and Democrats. Sure they had a few unknown token republicans to sign on board but the initiative was all democrats. She wanted an outright ban but had to settle for a parental advisory sticker because of the first Amendment. Similar was Hillary Clinton's war on violent video games. You had other democrats trying to ban everything from saying the N word to wearing baggy shorts.

I don't know about censorship but the the bible thumping/family values Republican crowd did a lot of deplorable shit back in the 90s, which is why I say the left has completely taken over for them in the poking your head into your neighbor's business department and being overly judgemental.

Nothing for the common user. The biggest change would be the unbanning of Trump. After that it's people like MTG and Alex Jones. I think if does not get Trump reinstated on Twitter he will be called out as a fraud and failure by the right. It's all going to circle around that. And if Trump is back on Twitter then Musk will be viewed as a revolutionary by them :oldlol:.

Outside of that Twitter is loaded with plenty of conservatives posting conservative things. Nothing will change for them.

Yup. Someone knows their history, unlike others. :applause:

It's truly hard to find instances where the Right has really stepped in front of Freedom of Speech. It has almost always been Democrats.

2 Live Crew’s Luther Campbell And The Fight For Free Speech (https://www.spin.com/2020/12/2-live-crew-luther-campbell-free-speech-interview/)

BY 1989, Miami rap group The 2 Live Crew’s ultimately double-platinum album As Nasty As They Wanna Be was quickly climbing the hip-hop charts. The lead single, “Me So Horny” was a crossover hit. Their unique blend of Southern rap and “party record” comedy bits had expanded well beyond their core audience of Southern Blacks. The vulgar lyrics and booty-shaking dances had infiltrated the white suburbs. Mothers were appalled to hear their kids’ mouth couplets such as, “You said it yourself, you like it like I do/Put your lips on my dick, and suck my asshole, too.” With pearls thoroughly clutched, those mothers turned to conservative and Christian leaders to save the souls of their sons. And this is how Luther Campbell ended up three years later in front of a jury fighting for his First Amendment rights.
