Do scoring titles matter?

I honestly don't think they matter much at all. We've seen players win scoring titles averaging around 28ppg, but have also seen players NOT win scoring titles while averaging way over 30ppg.

I'd rather look at playoff scoring anyways since that's how you truly find the all-time/historic scorers.

None of the shit matters. Once you’re a certain level at anything….scoring, rebounding, or playmaking…probably shot blocking? If you wanna lead the league and you get minutes you can do it. Guys have stat whored their way to every kind of “title” forever. It only means what you want it to mean. Sometimes guts even make it funny when they are clearly out for one specific stat. You can’t flat out compare ppg between years. Different eras with different rules and styles.

3ball - you deleted your post, but logged in to say I agree. Scoring titles matter if you're racking them up consistently. It proves you're a (or THE depending on other factors like efficiency) consistent, top dog scorer. A scoring title or two is impressive, but depending on the comparison, it may not have equal value.

So now Kawhi in 2019 eliminated a scoring champion, a 2 time MVP and finals mvp, 3 time champion and 2 time mvp. Not to mention Butler who led his team to the finals.
