Wilt was the first player that came to mind of a player that probably did this, but he just fell short in '67 & '68. 1,956 points in '67 and 1,992 points in '68.

giannis, jokic and embiid just don't have enough wins for league mvp.. neither does luka
just give it to booker.. 50 win guys to a possible 65?
bookers 27/5/5 should be more than enough with that kind of gap in wins
the media flip flops so damn much on their criteria
if bookers name was lebron or jordan they would be run away mvp. and yes pauls important but so was wade and pippen
Highest PER ever as well.

there is no flip flopping.
best player on best team simply has never been the criteria.
Kobe could have been the MVP in 06 and 07, he just wasn't good enough.

best player on the best team with a minimum requirement of statistics has always won mvp
the only time it doesn't is when the leader is a 15 to 17ppg guy unless they're also averaging 10 plus assists
27ppg should be more than enough with 15 more wins than anyone else

Clearly the best player in the league.
Most skilled big man in the league. Giannis the best player in the league. There are several players more skilled than him but none have the impact on the game like Giannis.

Its championship or bust for Jokic... No more excuses...obviously this team is good enough if he can do this. When he gets swept my the suns or destroyed by the warriors i dont want to hear it...
His biggest wish better be that he gets low iq luka in the 1st round cause the nuggets will steamroll that bum then hope the suns get knocked off by the play in team

You're not entirely wrong but there are more stats than just points/rebs/assists now. The top 3 guys are lapping Booker in the advanced numbers.
If Booker had comparable advanced numbers as the top guys right now he'd win it going away.

"Best player on best team" is typically a voter-fatigue narrative.
Like if Lebron is still clearly more valuable than Derrick Rose, but Lebron has already won three times and Rose's Bulls have the league's best record, they'll use that to justify spreading the award around. Same with Malone's MVP in 97 and Kobe's lifetime achievement MVP in 08.
Jokic has only won once, and is clearly worthy of being in "back to back" territory. If he's still the best player again next year, then they'll probably move on to "best player on best team" rather than give him a third consecutive.

not even close
anytime a player did what jokic is doing this yr, he won mvp.
you will find more jokic like seasons ending mvp than booker like seasons.

Take any team with a better record than Denver and imagine how that team would look this year if you removed their second and third best player.
