Serious question.

Do you think he would catch on next year if he were to become a free agent?

I honestly dont think anyone would take him even at the minimum. I'm not even trolling or kidding.

I guess I could see MJ doing that tbh.

I would still trade him for Tobias Harris.

I'm sure Morey could get a deal done.

For the minimum? Sure, if only he would accept a reduced role which he's given no indication he's willing or capable of. The ideal situation for Russ right now, at this point in his career, is a supersub role. 22-25 minutes a night, bring him in with 3 minutes left in the first quarter, wind him up and let him go on the opposing teams second unit till like 5 minutes left in the 2nd. Third quarter, bring him in with 5 minutes left, let him go till like 9 minutes to go in the 4th. Get whatever you can get from him, he'll score inefficiently, have a few highlights, gobble up some rebounds. Keep him away from any clutch situations, he's simply never developed that 'feel' where the game slows down at a certain point and you start playing chess. Russ has been playing checkers for 15 years.

Yeah, they would pick him up and pass him around the league, like fellow mid-2010s star but now blatantly washed Boogie Cousins is being passed around and plays for a new team every month.

There's no question that there are NBA teams who would be interested in Russ if they could pick him up on the cheap. Regardless of what you might think of him as a player, he's still one of the more recognizable names in the NBA. Why wouldn't a team that's going nowhere bring him in if only to sell tickets and pump up TV ratings? The bigger question is if his pride would allow him to accept a lowball offer. My feeling is that if he didn't receive an offer that was close to what he thinks he's worth he'd just sit and wait for a contender to have a player become injured.

yes because believe it or not but there's actually way dumber people than lebron making decisions on other teams right now

Westbrook is a good first option but a bad 2nd, 3rd option.

This is the first year he missed playoffs since his rookie season.

So, he could have a good contract and carry his team to playoffs.

hes lost more than a step. he plays absolutely zero defense. hes not even good around the basket anymore. his passing is atrocious. Shannon Sharpe said it best. even at his absolute peak he could only give a team 47 wins

hes not special. he never was. and now he's worse.

I remember you calling Westbrook a superstar when he first joined the Lakers. But I suspect you were trolling, I hope.

Wouldn't want Westbrick any where near my franchise under any circumstance. He's the worst player in the NBA by a long shot. He's not even good enough to be a complimentary role player. He's just a flat out cancer on and off the court.

he was to me because I never watched him play more than a few times a year before. when you see someone every day you see their flaws. I wasn't trolling at all. I just assumed his stats had some kind of positive effect. but it's obvious they never did and were just as manufactured as lebrons always have been

Bro, you’d have to be delusional to believe any fan would pay money or tune in to specifically watch Russ play next year or beyond.

Ironically you could maybe argue he’s must-see TV for fans outside his market, in the sense of watching a titanic trainwreck, especially with the added appeal of it happening to a douche like him.

But I cant see a single club regardless of circumstance saying “this guy’s a good idea for our team.”

Someone might trade for him to get that expiring contract. If it wasnt for that, I dont think anyone would sign him for free. But maybe Im overestimating some of the GMs out there.

He’s not as bad as this year has made him out to be, can he be the old Russ? I don’t think so. I actually think he would be a good fit with the Clippers or Knicks.

He shouldn't have left the wizards.
