The Hawks compiled a 27-14 record at State Farm Arena during the 2021-22 regular season, tied for the third-best home record in the Eastern Conference. At home during the regular season, Atlanta ranked top-10 in multiple statistical categories: 1st in ORTG (116.8) and FTM (19.5), 2nd in FT% (.821) and 3FG% (.379), 3rd in PPG (116.7), 4th in FG% (.482), 9th in FGM (41.9) and tied 9th in 3FGM (13.3).

The Hornets had a strong offensive season led by forward Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball who each ranked in the top 25 in scoring. Bridges finished the year ranked 23rd in scoring after he averaged 20.2 points per contest while Ball was right behind him, posting 20.1 points per contests, which ranked 24th in the NBA. This marks just the third instance in franchise history that a pair of teammates have averaged 20.0 points or more in the same season as Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning (1992-93) and Johnson and Glen Rice (1995-96). Bridges finished with 1,613 points (15th) and Ball totaled 1,508 points (20th) this season as they are the fourth pair of teammates with 1,500+ points in the same season along Johnson/Mourning, Johnson/Rice and Mourning and Kendall Gill during the 1991-92 season. Charlotte ended the season as one of eight teammates that has multiple players who averaged at least 20.0 points per game along with Toronto, Philadelphia, New York, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Chicago and Boston.

Surprised the line has increased since it was released.

We're tough at home but something about Charlotte scares me. If that have one of those stupid shooting nights it could be over.

Hawks have to play solid defense, and not allow Charlotte easy fast break opportunities.Contol tempo and contest everything is the recipe to take the win.

Just turned it on within the last few possessions, but both teams look like they came to play so far. Hawks showing some great motion and ball movement on offense.

If the Hawks play like this they're gonna be tough for anybody.

Hornets aren't rollin over tho.

Trae can’t find a bucket. Regardless of what Trae does scoring, if Huerter and Bogi both score 20 we aren’t losing. I’d like to put this away early.

Clint Capela just a monster in the paint tonight.

Also I had no idea “Brinks Truck” Thomas was back and playing for the Hornets.

PJ Washington getting buckets. And with a few other Hornets suddenly helping it's now just a six-point game.

Score is surprisingly close at half. Feels like the Hawks should be up more.

If the hawks can get DeAndre Hunter going then Miami is going to be sweating out a 1/8 series.

Lamelo 3 for 15 from the field :facepalm

That's really not the biggest issue. Some times your shot isn't falling but a good point guard can still run the offense and create for your teammates.
Lamelo is not a great playmaker in the half court offense. He is great in transition but the game slows down in the playoffs and teams take away the easy fast breaks and you are seeing Lamelo's weaknesses being exposed in this game.

I like Trae Young but I'm afraid Miami got too many bodies to throw at him. On offense, they have Jimmy, Lowry, Bam, Duncan, Herro, Straus, and Oladipo.

Duncan, Herro and Straus are terrible defenders. Lowry is too slow and Oladipo can't handle him either. Trae Young will do his thing, Miami can't stop him if his teammates hit their open looks and they play solid defense.

Well sometimes that doesn’t matter. And the Hawks shooters will have a game they win without Trae.

Hunter is the wildcard. If he’s ordinary it’s 6 games at most. If he plays well it’s 7 and the Heat are shitting themselves.

I don't think Miami has one player the DEMANDS a double team. Miami has to double Trae Young, it will take Hunter, Huerter, Bogi and Gallo hitting their open shots. I think Hunter is the X Factor on defense, because he must contain Jimmy Butler and help rebound the ball.
It will be an interesting series, but have to get by Cleveland first.
