imagine not noticing your bill is 50$ cheaper. I can understand a few items being missed at a self checkout but 15 or 20?

I went to the car and noticed a stick of deodorant under all the bagged stuff and didn't bother going back to pay. but I noticed right away.

she probly doesn't even wait for the thing to beep and just brushes it over the scanner. whatever it didn't pickup was the machines fault to her. she's a criminal and now a millionaire cause she got caught

America is beyond f*cked at this point

even if she thought the scanner was malfunctioning then why leave. why not verify everything before paying. there's a screen with a list of your items. everyone that shops has a ball park estimate of what they're spending. I'm never off by more than 5 or 10$ and people almost ALWAYS have a routine and pay around the same every time. I'm sure she went and bought that same bundle of food. people have habits and go through the same isles the same way every time. I spend about 80 to 90$ every week at Walmart. it's like clockwork. especially for a family. so when he her bill was like 145 instead of 200$ she shoulda known she was stealing. period. and if you don't hear that beep then you know it didn't read the item. and with no video proof it's impossible for her to prove the worker was responsible or the machine. if that was the case they would have arrested a dozen people that day

it's all too convenient. people like that fat goon try stealing all the time. I know the type. I worked retail from age 16 to 24

She most likely noticed but didn't care once everything totalled up. I'm pretty sure she didn't set out to steal though. I would have liked to see her criminal past. But if she had no priors it was probably best not to arrest her and just make her pay.

The thing is people now expect this kind of retribution against all companies but it's only the corporate giants that can absorb nonsense lawsuits like these. Mom & pop B&M stores in high theft areas are so fvcked

Funny enough, I know a guy who was trying to check out at a Walmart the other day with about 40 dollars worth of stuff. He scanned it, bagged it, and attempted to make his payment, but when he selected 'cash' (which is usually accepted at self check out) he saw that this particular machine was not accepting cash. This guy I know was in a hurry, and felt inconvenienced by the fact it was not made clear cash wasnt accepted until after he'd already rang everything up. He waited a few moments for someone to come over and direct him to a machine where he could use cash. Nobody came over to help.

This particular guy I know, decided to just put the stuff in his cart and leave, because if they dont want the money he brought, then that's their problem.

So, yeah.

Happened to a guy I know.

my card wouldn't read a few times on those machines so I just left the stuff and walked out. I mean do people REALLY need bread and chicken wings or frozen dinners that badly or can they just wait a day and order a pizza or get Wendy's till their problem with the bank is resolved or they get a replacement debit card. you can always go shopping another day

I could understand if you're a teenager with friends and you wanna look cool or you're set out to steal from the start cause you're broke and hungry. but to do it just out of convenience is absurd. especially if you're financially set and have kids.. like I said it's most likely just her entitled nature that's caused her to be 100 pounds over weight

Pretty sure the big chain stores expect this kind of stuff and have done intensive studies on how much they lose per day like this versus the cost of having an employee stand there and check people out. I'm guessing they are seeing average losses of less than $150 per machine per day.

This automation direction taken by most stores is downright stupid. I have a relative that works at a drug store and they tell me how management directs them not to work at the registers, but to instruct customers to use the self-checkout machines instead. The manager tells the staff to walk away from the front so that customers aren't expecting a staff member to help them. And then they wonder why theft is up.

here's a better idea. download the Walmart app and scan the bar code whenever you pick up and place an item in your cart. then Walmart adds the item to your checkout like if you were ordering online. then when you're ready to head out you click pay and your receipts on your phone as you walk out if anyone stops you. going one item at a time will be easier to track because you wanna see that it's the right price anyway. if you grab something that doesn't scan then it's easy to out it back right in front of you. problem solved

take that commie rhetoric the f*ck out this thread you lowlife scumbag.

Walmart never robbed me. it provides me with great deals. a good product or business deserves our respect and their share holders deserve to be rich for making it affordable and convenient to buy groceries and every day items. I always look for good deals regardless of how much money I have and it's my #1 place to find things for half the price of canadian owned businesses. theyre the ones robbing people because they can't turn a profit with liberal laws and taxes ruining everything for everyone. let them die. go rob them or some family owned place and get shot or stabbed walking out

protect Walmart at all cost
