Despite playing for 2 decades with more playoff series than just about anyone, Lebron never had a carry-job against a good team.. Specifically, he never: 1) carried bed-wetting teammates over a top 5 SRS team and 2) never defeated maximum defensive attention in 10 Finals (never carried scoring load)... The following is specific detail regarding this historical record:
The closest he came to a carry-job against a top 5 SRS team was 15' ECF, but JR Smith averaged 18/8 on 57%, so Lebron never beat a good team with bed-wetting teammates.. And the closest he came to defeating max defensive attention (carry scoring load in Finals) was the 13' Finals when he averaged 25 and Wade 20 (Wade outscored opposing #1 option and matched Lebron's usage).
Lebron lacks the elite jumpshooting skill to defeat maximum defensive attention or have carry-jobs against good teams, and this lack of elite jumpshooting skill is why Lebron isn't FEARED.. Defenders know that they have help defenders to help on his rim attack and otherwise won't be left alone against a hot jumpshooter because Lebron rarely gets hot and doesn't take contested jumpers.... This is why Lebron isn't FEARED, while Kobe, Trae Young and other pure scorers and elite jumpshooters ARE feared.. Defenders fear getting juked and then Kobe hitting a few jumpers in their eye, which forces the coach to angrily call a timeout to consider double-teaming - aka defenders fear they AREN'T SUFFICIENT and the coach will draw up double-team schemes.. It a slap in a defender's face, so they naturally fear assassin jumpshooters like Kobe, MJ, or even someone like Trae..
