But when it comes to defending against lineups with 5 shooters he's a liability, he has cement feet and is very slow to come out to shooters which was a big reason why Dallas were able to get so many open looks from 3

Utah has poor perimeter defense, maybe the worst in the league other than the Lakers. Mitchell is a chucker who can't play any defense and Toody is the best rim protector but he can't help their perimeter D. He's a great player but maybe not worth the max because of his limitations. Mavs got wide open 3s all game. Brunson had a career night. They lost by 6 in a game where the opposing team made twice as many 3s (22 to 11).

Now, you could argue that Toody is not worth the max if you want to win a championship and I'd agree because he's not giving you enough in the POs with that contract to build a great team around him unless you got an ATG player on a rookie contract.

If Luka doesn't come back, the Jazz probably still win the series. They got a road win and they're just beating the Mavs on the boards & most of it is Gobert's doing. The Mavs have to keep making a high number of 3s to compete with Utah because so far the Jazz have outrebounded them by 38 in just two games.

Unless Mitchell forces a trade that is certainly the route to go. Gobert has been better than ever this year and Mitchell had been before his post all star break collapse.
