What’s funny to me is that so many people who would say such a thing would probably consider guys like Baron and Steve Francis old school. They did come in over 20 years ago I guess but will never feel old school to me.

That move would've been called for two travels and two carries in the '80s.

Was just about to say, in the old old school you wouldnt be ALLOWED to string all that together.

It’s still nice and it’s fun to watch, but it wouldnt be fair to say fancy dribbling is something older heads wouldnt be able to do. Some of them surely could have if it were allowed.

Nick is one of the lower tier guys(relatively speaking) and I can easily envision him doing that entire sequence.

I was going to say the same thing but it has already been brought up. Yes , it is fun to watch but the rules of the game have been bent for so long it is just accepted now. Same thing with the "step-back" when a player literally hops backward and lifts both feet = which one was his pivot foot?? The player today has been enabled to expand his arsenal on the offensive end of the court.

So Terry has a few moves the internet believes “old heads” are infuriated by their guys inability to perform. This is the latest I saw discussion of:

That was literally a self pass with a ping pong backspin. Are you serious?

Kblaze8855
05-29-2022, 03:27 PM
I liked the move personally. I remember Bird doing a similar pass to Dennis Johnson with wicked back spin as he trailed him and being mad I couldnt do it. Of course I had a shitty cheap worn out ball playing on often slightly wet outdoor courts which didn’t help. That Rozier move could end up a new Shamgod or Crawford Shake and bake if more people saw it. Questionable legality depending on how you do it but the nba doesn’t care about that. Terry Carrie’s his ass off setting up most of his hesis anyway.

:lebronamazed:

Thats filthy.

Honestly, when a dude’s doing something skilled like that I dont really have a problem with officials overlooking palming or whatever might technically be grounds for a whistle.

When a guy’s just lumbering around (cough Giannis cough) committing violations, it’s a bit more perturbing.

Well yea it’sa textbook palming we just don’t care for real. We selectively care.

That move would be devastating with a consistent star roll threat. The help has to honor it. Drives all day.

it does that like an amazing drive ...

but when I was in school back in the early 70's , we were all working on 2 moves to some form of perfection.

College it was more like panted moves.

Pro's are that , just that , they work on tons of moves , and string them together.
Hardening looks like he is just doing a step back ----

bull shlt :

he is not only watching his defenders feet , balance but putting together at least two moves in one.

first 1/2 of 6ers cetics game Tatum bought up the ball and carried it at least 3-4 times... just laughed.
And that was him just crossing the 1/2 court line.

This shows what one of pooles greatest strengths is. He not only has a very quick first step but he has huge strides. If you remember the joke around here about “navigational efficiency”, it’s actually a good term for poole. He also uses it to gain huge distance on his step backs. He creates as much distance with his step backs as anyone in the league pretty much.

I think Dick Barnett was doing that in the 60s, no?

According to this guy, Bill Lambeer was almost kicked out of league for being a stretch big? So if league was actively sabotaging evolution of shooting, could it be possible they were doing same thing for dribbling?
