I know doubling and tripling him after the touch, but he’s seen this before, what’s different ?

Making everything harder for him. The problem I have is that Lebron with Kyrie would probably beat this Celtics team in 5 games. KD is an all time great player, but he's not looking dominate or even nearly as dominate as someone like Lebron. Remember this is the 1st round, NOT the finals.

Celtics are using multiple defenders on him, they can get away with this because they have a bunch good man defenders. They also have extra guys close by ready to help if KD beats his man off the dribble. Boston is pretty much daring him to pass, the problem is KD doesn't have the vision of someone like LeBron so he can't really beat you with his passing.

that's silly. durants just old and past his prime. if he played last year he would be in year 15. that's about when guys retire most of the time. it's rare guys play 20 years. and when they do they usually suck at the end. the injury to his achilles definitely sped up the process

Nah dude. KD was averaging 31/7/7 on extremely high efficiency in March and April. He didn't just all of a sudden fall off a cliff.
His bad play is strictly because of what Boston's defense is doing to him.

He's obviously not as good of a playmaker as Lebron but he's a solid playmaker at his position. For whatever reason, he lost that skill going into these POs. Boston's doing a great job for sure, but a bunch of these TOs have been self-inflicted, he's just looked off for almost the entire series. He's dealt with double teams before and done a good job at it, this is the worst he's looked since that 2013 Memphis series.
Nets refusing to play Blake/LMA until it was over is just mind-boggling to me. Nash might not be a good coach. He's likely the first one to go if they do get swept.

KD has never had that skill at a high level. He's a good playmaker for his position, but Lebron is one of the best playmakers in the league. There's only a couple of guys that can handle double teams and passing it to the right person at the right time.

The turnovers is partially due to his handle not being great. His handle isn’t great but it’s usually not this bad either

It's tough to remember every player, but honestly it's not even something I'd argue against. He does it at an absurd level, especially during the latter half of his career.

The Celtics used professional tactics to dissect the Nets' amateur offense (pick-up ball).
It's like an amateur brawler going in there against a polished pro... Sooner or later, it's lights out.
The Nets had no chemistry because it's either a your-turn-my-turn style, or transparent efforts to get the ball to 1 guy for an iso.. That's too easy to load up on.
There's no honed style of play that gives everyone a chance to run the same routes and get going offensively to the extent their talent allows

the nets tried that. The celtics did not care at all when bruce brown got good look after good look. He's averaging 18ppg on crazy efficiency. most teams would've over adjusted but the celtics are too disciplined too.

KD and Kyrie were bad but Tatum's team has sufficient chemistry to win regardless what he scores (within reason).. So teams can't load up on Tatum because the chemistry and brand of ball makes all 5 guys real threats to make opponents pay... They've developed a brand that can keep it close without him and he'll save the game at the end.
Otoh, the your-turn-my-turn can't win unless both guys combine for 65+

He doesn't know how to structure the offense to beat another team with passing when he is being soft doubled. This is the sad truth Brooklyn is facing.
So while KD is one of the absolute best scorers for all time, he is not a player whose passing out of double teams and especially soft doubles, is deadly.
He’s not some reckless inefficient turnover machine like his former teammate, he’s incredibly efficient and deadly when shooting, but his passing just isn’t as deadly at all. It’s very average.
This is a hole in KD’s game, that many other superstar scorers have had by this stage in their careers. Also he doesn’t deal quite as well with off ball contact as other superstars with more meat on their bones consistently do.

And as Thinking Basketball pointed out, he doesn't have the agility to split or beat them off the ball. They are being physical with him off the ball, pushing him out of the his comfort zone. Sometimes with two players. And as soon as he have the ball, they attack him with multiple defenders.
As ppl said, they are daring him the pass. I disagree that his passing isn't a threat per say, but he isn't the best passer in the game. And they are daring for anybody else on the Nets to beat them. The Celts also have great defenders even when they switch.
