View Full Version : Ok someone has to say it - KD & Kyrie's collapse is Lebron's fault

Lebron's collusion stole Durant's organic chip in 2012 and netted 2 more chips, so Durant had to start team-hopping to catch up

Imagine if Magic teamed up with Jordan in 1986 and stole Bird's organic chip - Bird would've had to team up with Hakeem late in his prime and it probably wouldn't work just like KD/Kyrie...

Bird would have a massive negative at the end of his prime just like current KD and it would be Magic's fault for breaking the competitive code and teaming up with rivals.

Imagine that you were in a professional league of some kind and everyone thought you were either #1 or #2... You have a pretty good relationship with the your main rival and there's a friendly competitive understanding between you guys - aka game recognizes game - you guys are the best and there's a mutual respect there.

Now one day you wake up to find out that your rival decided to start stacking the deck... So you guys were competing honestly and evenly for a while, and then he decides to start stacking the deck with some grey area maneuver that reflects low integrity... So there's no more competitive understanding and respect - it's all about fooling the public by manufacturing more accolades...

You're essentially Durant - that's what Lebron did to his boy Durant... did him dirty by starting to stack the deck mid-prime and forcing durant to play catch-up

He was excited because he had a theory that Jordan style iso scoring would bend the defence and games would be easy. Don't need Pippens or Draymond Green's of the world if you have multiple super talented Iso scorers.

Looks like NBA basketball is very hard when you don't have playmakers. Duh.

This series is prove that having a 2nd option like Pippen who has an excellent all-around game including defense and underrated playmaking is more often than not more valuable than having a one-dimensional scorer like Kyrie as your #2. Nets would have killed to have a playmaker in this series.

Yes.

If Nets could trade Kyrie for prime Scottie Pippen they would do it in a heart beat and throw in 3 1st round picks.

not a theory, more something he's consistently said for years. This series really provided strong evidence that yea a good team needs more than iso scoring.

Magic breaking the competitive code causes Bird to have a massive negative at the end of his prime. so, in your own language, breaking the competitive code actually makes one more competitive than winning organically. particularly when you're the first to do it.

"Breaking the competitive code" (teaming up) is a talent-based approach (all-star team strategy, mercenary teamwork) that ultimately devolves brand of ball (strategy, chemistry, teammate fits, identity).

Today's era is a contest of which team can amass the most talent, while previous eras were an evolution of increasingly superior brands of ball.

History shows that the Pistons developed a physical brand that offset the talent deficit to the Celtics/Lakers, while the Bulls eventually defeated this physicality with a finesse brand of ball movement...

Again, the 80's and 90's was an evolution of increasingly superior brands of ball, so every decent team was infact a long-standing, organic juggernaut with mature brand of ball - the same kind of team that destroys Lebron's talent-based approach (Spurs, Mavs, Warriors).

A sweep is 4-0

so Jordan was never swept...

It's just another mark of perfection for the goat just like 6/6 or never losing as the favorite or always defeating maximum defensive attention (carrying scoring load) or never losing with a good team (1 or 2 seed) or with all-star teammate (except migraine yr and baseball yr)... And many more.. A decade of scoring titles (88-98'... yikes - no one dominated scoring over decades like that)

Furthermore, Jordan averaged 44/6/6 on 50% against the Celtics' #1 defense, compared to 36/6/6 on 39% for Durant.

Lol

A sweep is when a team loses every game in a series based on a predetermined number of games. It doesn't matter if it's 5 games, or 7. It could be a 9 game series and if one team gets to 5-0, it's over. By your definition it wouldn't be a sweep because it's '5-0' and not '4-0'. You do realize that your definition also eliminates all the scenarios where the Bulls took out a number of first round teams 3-0, right?

You're an idiot and this is gold material for the dumbest things said on ISH thread.

KD is a huge stretch but Kyrie playing bad may partially be due to no lebron. Saw on Reddit. since 2019, he’s put up 22/5/5 on 54ts%. That’s just not that good when almost all his value comes from his scoring ability.

It’s straight up mediocre, and like I said in another thread it’s nearly identical to Curry’s 2016 Finals numbers that he got crucified for.

His teams are also just 11-11 in the playoffs since leaving Cleveland.

Kyrie isn't a floor raiser, there's no evidence to suggest he's anything above a weapon you deploy when you already have a playmaker and leader in place. Anything other than expecting him to 'get his own' is setting yourself up for disappointment.
