View Full Version : Luka made a statement game last night - a brutality

I was thinking why don't these fools get Luka out the game, but now I see why not.

This is like some of those early Mike Tyson fights when Iron Mike was knocking out fools left and right. The thing is, he got a lot of criticism for it, because those guys were journeymen, paid to lose, and you play nice with them, don't really beat them up too bad. Iron Mike did the opposite, he ended them, brutalized them.

That's what Luka did yesterday, he brutalized FIBA World Champ - Gobert. He brutalized american star, olympian, Donovan Mitchell.

Brutalized, leaving no room, none, for nuance.

It was the "god in basketball shoes" game, the game that would shut up the Stephen A's off the world.

I was shocked when I saw Luka had a pedestrian 33/15/5, but his impact was like a 60 point game, because of the sheer brutality of defense and domination.

League on notice. Who will step up?

people keep saying Lukas too fat but he bullies the shit out of everyone that tries defending him. if he was skinny he would be useless since he's slow as shit. he controls the pace and you have to double him so it's an automatic wide open three every time and they can all shoot. it's the perfect offensive team with a ball dominant playmaker/scorer. and now they defend as a team. there's literally no stopping them. they can only stop themselves if they go cold

Luka is as talented as Larry Bird, probably a better talent.

If this guy trains and stops getting fatter he has top 5 goat potential.

I actually had the same reaction when I saw his line at the end of the game, felt like 33/15/5 somehow actually under sold his impact. He just does what he wants out there, on his terms. Nobody can seem to stop it.

He had like six plays that would make most guys' full career highlight mix... in one game.

I've always said that if Luka learns to play above average defense, then he can be GOAT and yesterday he did that.

There's literally no stopping Luka if he plays like this on both ends, just a big fat dynamo getting everyone out the way.

I can't say if he has as much talent in all facets as Larry, but he does seem to have that same intangible, like Magic as well, being able to control the game completely.

Yeah, this was crazy. Can't wait to see what happens against Suns or Pelicans. Could be one for the ages.

glad you stopped comparing him to lebron or magic. neither guy had luka or birds bad shot making ability or repertoire with both hands around the net. Luka isn't afraid/shook like lebron in late game situations either. he becomes a "pass only if I have to" guy but only if he can't get a step back 3 where he wants it. he needs a strong double from 35 feet out to give it up. lebron looks to pass the ball especially when down 1 or 2. and luka also invites contact even though he isn't the best free throw shooter.

hes a slightly better ball handler slightly lesser shooting version of Larry bird with more range and more aggression

I think I'm seeing more Larry in Luka in the playoffs, but I do think there's also Lebron/Magic/Harden inspiration as well.

There's also a very "John Holmes"ish similarity there too.

I feel like he's probably a "big deal" downstairs.

That's something he does have in common with Lebron.

the only thing that's similar to lebron is he has the ball in his hands for most of the game. aside from that he dominates with mostly skill and smarts. lebron just stiff armed guys for layups. they're almost nothing alike. Lukas passes are also for the best shot and not just an assist. that's why the mavs can swing it a few times cause he's not draining g the shot clock like lebron. he gets rebounds in the flow of the game and fights for everything. he's nothing like lebron.. without roids lebron would be obsolete. when does Luka dunk on people. almost never. when does he get carried by other superstars. never.. 2 totally different players. Luka is the one bailing his teams out. not his teammates. he wants the shot more than the assist. he doesn't chase triple doubles either. he leaves them on the table and checks out a lot of the time needing a few assists or rebounds.

Not world champs or Olympian in Mitchell's case

Luka has the basketball IQ of LeBron but he doesn't have the explosive power, athleticism and strength that LeBron has.

So LeBron still the GOAT and Luka on a lower tier.

Both are better baskeball talents / players than Kobe fyi.

lebrons basketball IQ is poor. sure he can see the floor well but...

its knowing who to pass to basketball IQ (he passing to the wrong guys all the time)

is knowing when to pass basketball IQ (he drains the shot clock to pad assists)

is taking over when you need to basketball IQ (he shys away most of the time)

is attacking the basket and creating contact basketball IQ (he shys away from late game free throws)

is staying in to chase triple doubles basketball IQ (he puts himself at risk of injury and wears himself down which has caused him to miss many games rhe last 4 years)

is putting others in the right position to succeed basketball IQ (he only tells guys to play out of position and be stretch 4s and 5s even when they can't shoot. and doesn't have the balls to tell Westbrook to come off the bench when he knows he can't co exist with him.

is leadership by example basketball IQ (he's lazy on defense and blames others)

is footwork basketball IQ (he has none)

I could go on forever. he's a very stupid player. he forgot he had a timeout in game 1 of the 2018 finals. is that basketball IQ

seriously just f*ck off. he ain't luka. he's just a physical specimen thanks to laboratory enhancements

Warriors are the only team who could stop them out West as of right now, as they have enough offense to match what Doncic & the Mavs are capable of doing to them on the other end. Suns with a limping Booker and an aging CP0? No thanks. Memphis with Ja? Not experienced/consistent enough.

Unlike Harden though, Lukas numbers improve from the season, not crater.

This entire post is incorrect and low IQ.

The step-back has been around long before Harden. I'd hardly call extending it to the 3point line an 'invention'.

Reggie talks about learning it in college. He says Harden does it differently, stepping more to the side.
