3 Ball, I think i have a new term that should be added to the sports ranking lexicon.

New term = The head of the snake player.... We may need to reevaluate where we rank these players all time. These are players (normally big men) who just happen to be on an organically farmed team plush with talent.


Examples.
Tim Duncan on the Spurs with manu,parker,bowen, robinson, kawhi, ect...
Bill Russell on the Celtics where he had hof teammates everywhere


a modern-day example of this is Ja Morant as the head of the snake of the young Grizzlies

These players' values are being inflated in all time team rankings by team success/achievements....No way can we seriously rank a Tim Duncan over a Hakeem or a Ja over a Penny Hardaway all time....


Surely players who take their game to another level in the playoffs in a solo superstar system should be giving a ranking boost compared to "head of the snake" playeea

ja morant is basically the new Iverson/westbrook/rose. when his team wins we all know it ain't him. but he is great individually

he will have a short career cause without his explosiveness he will be obsolete

People don't realize that equal-scoring teammates attract equal defensive attention.. That's why I have a category of players that "defeated maximum defensive attention", aka carried the scoring load for playoffs and Finals of title run - 10 ppg more than all teammates..

Carrying the scoring load (defeating maximum defensive attention) requires elite jumpshooting skill and occurs on teams that only have 1 go-to player/elite scorer.. This includes guys like Kawhi's title in 2019, or 11' Dirk, 94' Hakeem, 09' Kobe, and Jordan's 6 titles
