i mean if you disregard the Godfather
in no order:
- Forest Gump ( groundbreaking/generational )
- Pulp Fiction ( changed movie making forever )
- Leon the professional ( ultimate cult movie )
- Shawshank Redemption ( personal favorite )
- The Lion King ( voted best animated movie of all time )
https://www.ladbible.com/entertainment/film-and-tv-the-lion-king-voted-the-best-animated-film-of-all-time-20180127
and the goat comedies:
- Dumb and Dumber
- Ace Ventura
Honorable mentions:
- Natural Born Killers
- Ed Wood
- The Mask
- True Lies
- Speed
- Clerks
- The Crow
- Star Gate

great film... but unfortunately it is glorifying pedophilia. Sometimes it's subtle, but other times not so much.
Whoever wrote this film is 100% a pedophile... shocking revelation, I know.

it only glorifies pedophilia if you're a pedophile. there's no nudity or even touching. it's a father/daughter relationship. every girl looks up to a great father figure with that kind of devotion. she thinks she's in love with him because he's the first positive male role model she's ever had. if you got anything sexual out of a boy with long hair then you're a creep. I hope you're just speaking in general. I never had a problem with the movies tone and I even watched it with friends 15 years ago. we all were really into it for Gary Oldman and Leon. Natalie Portmans character is more known for her going through hell with her family and wanting retribution then having to grow up fast. Leon's a guy that's shut off and never had a family and he leaves her everything after finally having someone to care about. it's wholesome. grow up and put your dick away

big difference between arguable and your favorite movies or what you think should be the 5 best
it could be argued that the 5 greatest movies ever are citizen Kane, gone with the wind and 3 other insanely old ones. as long as the movies were at one point in time all considered on that tier then its arguable. what stops them from being looked at that way is personal preference/time/age/advancements/bias etc...
it's like bill Russell being in the top 5 all time. we all know he wouldn't even be top 100 if compared with guys from the last 30 years. but we judge him for his time.
there isn't another year that had 5 movies that have that kind of lasting power/impact/popularity.. and that year there was really 7 if you count the jim Carrey movies

maybe for quantity but only fight club and matrix are even top 10 worthy all time. the rest are just good movies.

Why unfortunate?
Ain't nothing wrong with a little kiddies sexual tension done nicely.
It's one of the things that makes the movie special.
Although I didn't enjoy it. Just ok to me.

I didn't enjoy the Godfather. so where do we go from here. just 2 guys not enjoying classic movies that are great regardless of what either one of us think

Well, you can tell us why you didn't like it. Greatness of art is subjective anyways.

its outdated. too many useless scenes to extend the film. sorta like the deer hunter and other movies from that era. there's amazing scenes from it but it's poorly edited. that entire wedding scene coulda been 5 minutes but it feels like half an hour
actually it was

Forrest Gump is legitimately the most overrated movie of all time. The entire premise of the movie is “Look at Forrest at this historic moment”. Totally capitalized on baby boomer nostalgia.

low IQ. Forest Gump is about a boy struggling his whole life to become a man and prove himself to everyone that he's not just some crippled retard and he's constantly trying to elevate himself for Jenny's approval. then when he finally attains the success and notoriety he finds out that its not him who needs her. but her who needs him cause she's dying. then he finds out he's a dad so he finally becomes a man of purpose. and all the knowledge he learned over the years will help him raise a kid when he's basically a kid still in his own mind. which we all are. we're all just grown up kids learning from past failures and successes. but it's biggest take away was the crippling leg problems and being a southern boy told he would never amount to anything and still becoming successful. obviously some people won't take anything from that but for people from that era who went through the polio epidemic where a lot of kids wore braces as kids and by the time the movie came out they were all in their 40s and 50s it gave them validation. you just don't understand these things because you're ignorant

apparently because I don't wanna watch a 3 hour movie that it must mean I can't watch 2 hour movies which is about as far as any movie should go. wwe proved this concept with wwe ratings plummeting immediately after switching to 3 hour shows
