What I mean by this is, both guys are very talented... but theyre not killers.
Yes they can explode for big games, and hit clutch buckets here and there.
But thats not what makes a killer.
Theres no metric you can point to, it’s just in the demeanor. Durant and Tatum are just more timid by nature, and have to sort of force themselves into a riled up, hard nosed mentality. Yeah they might scowl and shout “LETS GO” after a basket, but... they need the situation to make them hype, rather than setting it off from the start. Theyre not guys who are LOOKING for an opportunity to put their chest in yours.
CP3 and Doncic, and to some extent Giannis altho he’s limited by skill, right now are the examples of guys who always want to go to war. They wanna conduct the orchestra, not wait for someone to give them a cue to perform their solo.
I dont watch a lot of regular season but I watch the playoffs closely and thats where I judge guys. Tatum has all the physical measurables and a complete game on paper. And Boston can certainly win WITH him. But he’s not a camel. You cant load the team onto his back and say “Get us thru a series.”
He’s not that guy.
