View Full Version : Supposedly only 2 players have been 6 time all stars without an mvp vote of any kind.

They are said to be Kyrie and Pau.

I felt like that couldn’t be the case so I started checking and I’ve not found proof it’s incorrect.

Joe Johnson came up on Twitter but he got a 5th place in both 2010 and 2012. I feel like a deep dive is justified…but I’m weird like that.

Jack Sikma is a 7 time All-Star. Wonder how many votes he has gotten.

I wonder if they fired their agent over it.

Looking at the list it may be true because of how mvp votes used to be. Back when the players voted it was way more unrealistic. Guys voted for friends or jokes. People you never heard of got voted. You might have 20 guys have voted. Mike Bantom got a first place vote in the 70s and you never heard of him.

Got votes in 5 seasons with a peak of 7th place(4 first place) in one of the final seasons players voted for it.

Add Chet Walker. 7 all-star selections, 0 MVP votes.

Edit: Got one 16h place finish :lol

Finally a thread where neither LeBron or Kobe stans can troll.

He got one vote when the Raptors won 56 games in 2016. Only one of his career.

Interesting. He was never All NBA so I didn't think he had that much.
Mitch Richmond, 6 time All Star but as a member of the 90s Kings can't see to many MVP votes coming his way.

It looks legit. Guys I'd be very skeptical about like Dikembe & DeBusschere got MVP votes too.

DIkembe I assume when the Hawks had a fools gold 56 or so win season. Dave I figure got credit for some Knicks toughness after Reed fell off. Mitch I’m betting got something just for getting the Kings to the playoffs one of those years.

Hal Greer, 10 time All-Star. Seven time All-NBA 2nd Team, just ONE season finishing with an MVP vote.

Makes sense actually. Both players would get the popular vote (all-star) because their playing next to LeBron and Kobe.

But neither is also ever going to sniff an MVP vote because their on the same team as those guys.

So it's a double edged sword.

I guess that shows how good pippen was. Still getting mvp votes next to Jordan is impressive

I thought sure it would be James Worthy to add to that list but in fact he did get vote one year 86.

Shocking and disgusting lol

Hal Greer was pure poison to rookie Walt Frazier. Clyde is my all time favorite player but when he first went in he didn’t have all that confidence of the glory years. High Gear would just take him to the dang woodshed every time.

But Frazier got all the laughs a few years later with those rings to me there was three or five years when he was the best guard in the league although people will say Oscar or West, to me Frazier was the best right there in the early 70s

i'm surprised kyrie didn't get any points in 18. bos was the 2 seed. they were 14-8 without him but morant just finished 7th and everyone knows what griz did without him. voting should have been done before playoffs start also so the ecf run isn't relevant.

I can’t believe Pau didn’t get one in 04 with a 50 win team that had James Posey as it’s second leading scorer. They would have been third seed in the East but Redd, Baron, and both of the rookies(Melo and Lebron) got votes he didn’t and only Melo was over .500.
