Lets be clear tho, Luka had a hung game 7 (after playing a so-so series) and he’s an elite player at the moment.
But the Lebron comparisons are not okay. Nobody in the league rn is touching prime Lebron. Lets be respectful or how good Lebron actually is.

we call him leluka for a reason. his ceiling is top 2 all time. i can't see him having a better career than lebron though. his (legoat) sustained greatness is almost impossible to match.

Le Luka is the NOW.. Lebron as great as he still is will be out of the league in a couple of years. He keeps getting hurt and lost JASON KIDD as coach.. The Lakers should have dropped Vogel and kept JKIDD.. Who set up a defensive scheme to hid Luka and shut down CP3

They’re both very oversized point guards, who share similar averages, and throw plenty of beautiful, accurate, high velocity assists.
But they play very differently, based on different advantages.
LeBron prefers to use his speed, momentum, high flying long jump, and raw finishing power in the open court. His peak was most characterized by that.
Luka will never have that type of speed or vertical jump, but had nearly as much size and mass, and has better handles, significantly better shooting, and better decision making. So Luka dominates at a slower controlled pace, in half court situations.
Luka isn’t LeBron 2.0, save that label for a player with elite speed and leaping.
Luka is basically the mixture of all the best aspects of Chris Mullin, and James Harden. Chris Mullin’s touch, footwork, and cleverness thru contact, and James Harden’s combo guard crafty scoring, ball handling, and stepback skill set.

Just because they both dominate the ball doesn't mean they play the same. LeBron is one of if not the most athletic player of all time and dominates mostly with that while Luka is a slow fat white guy who uses absurd skill and moves to put guys in a blender. Luka is a much better shooter age for age right now as well. And badass clutch player.

Only thing that's really similar is their ball dominance, Luka's a different player in terms of his skillset. Bran didn't develop a consistent J until the 2nd half of his career.

It's not like Luka is a great shooter at the moment, he rarely takes mid-range shots. 40% of his attempts are from 3 and he shoots 35% from there which is average.
LeBron = Luka deal with it.

He's already made almost as many 3s his first 4 years than Bran did his entire 1st Cavs stint lmao, and he's over 44% from 10-16 and 42% on long 2s for his career already while Bran was 32% from 10-16 & 37.7% on long 2s his first 7 seasons in the league and never cracked 40% during that stretch and shot it even worse in most of his Playoff series with '09 being the aberration.

Well duh, it's a different league now. Luka for sure is a better shooter than a young LeBron. LeBron is just on another level athletically. Prime LeBron is a comparable shooter to current Luka.
The mid-range shot is gone. Teams realized Kobe's style of play of taking inefficient shots doesn't work so they went to shooting more 3s and shooting from inside. Even LeBron doesn't take nearly as many mid-range shots as he did in his early years in the league.

Bran mainly took long 2s and was inefficient at them, so he expanded his range and it didn't click together until he was past his prime. I don't see that issue with Luka, it's just that he takes too many step-back 3s that look great on the highlight reel but aren't as efficient of a shot, once he gets better teammates and shoots more 3s off the catch his numbers will go up. The mid-range ain't gone, Luka makes plenty of them if the defense is giving up those looks, if that was a weakness of his, then defenders would play off him and give him that shot. He's also a superior post player and feasts in the 3-10 ft area due to his combination of skill & strength, so he's able to get closer to the basket and either beat the smaller guy in the post or kick it out for a wide open corner 3.
I think he's closer to Harden than Bran, but obviously does a bunch of things that are similar. The FG assisted rate points him more towards peak Harden in terms of how much he dominates the ball. Bran was ball-dominant as well but not to this degree, he came close in '18 Playoffs.
Luka's USG% is above 40 for the 2nd straight Playoff run which is 3% higher than Bran's ever was and his Per 100 averages in these POs are also better than '18 Bran's as he's only averaged 36 mpg to put up 32/10/6.
He's a mix of the modern NBA ball dominator and has the advanced skills of an international player as he didn't grow up in the AAU system, so he has a deeper "bag" than any other offensive player in the league. Comparing it to Bran is just disrespectful as a lot of Bran's game was predicated on his athleticism. Teams gave him the open jumper because he could attack the rim like Giannis, in Luka's case they're not giving him anything but there's just nothing you can do to stop him.

Son doesn’t have the dietary or lifestyle discipline to get there, and I assume he has too much integrity to touch Steroids.
I don’t think he can ever get to a point where his fast break finishing game is ever truly elite for a forward.
But he doesn’t need it to be, he’ll just throw a bucket pass to good fast break finishers like Finney-Smith, Dwight Powell, Bullock, Maxi, Green, Spence, etc

He knows he can't turn a team into a dynasty nor 3 peat multiple times nor bring his country only gold medals nor go undefeated in series with HCA. So reaching Lebron is pretty easy because he can join someone who won as the man, switch teams multiple times, win multiple bronze medals as well and get outplayed by inferior players with HCA.

Absolutely not an elite shooter. Doncic shot at 34% from 3 pt range in this series; under 34% in his career and only 35% this year. He shoots 9 3's a game for some reason, despite his low efficiency. Finney Smith, Brunson, Dinwiddie all had considerably higher shooting %'s (https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/DAL/2022.html) but scored less because they shot less.
His 2pt % and EFG% also well below his teammates. His higher points total come from dominating the ball.

He doesn't have the genetics to be elite at physical fast break athleticism like Bron or Giannis. However he can get his muscles and tendons to a semi elite level where they have endurance and longevity.
Jokic used to spend half the season getting himself into shape, once he started working out during the summers he won 2 MVPs in a row.

Both Luka and Lebron are Curry's Biattch
After this series Luka has found out that he can't win a chip alone. Luka is the GM/coach like Lebron was for all of his teams. Theyre either going to trade JB/DP/TH for a klay thompson next season, get gobert or a clutchlike shooter like green/battier/allen and its a wrap. Watching his playoff run I KNOW Luka is the ultimate dog, like Kobe, shooting threes even when he's 2-10. I always doubted his ability to score but I know he doesn't gaf if he's 1-10 and he has deepest bag in the game. He has the same mentality as Kobe, Giannis, Jordan. He's going to win a champsionship its just a matter of when.

Luka commands doubles so his bum teammates can start going off - his scoring is lethal enough to compromise the defense by doubling - his iso jumpshooting skill forces defenses to make a decision to double-team or not.
Otoh, Lebron can't "get hot" or "go off" as a pure scorer or jumpshooter - teams like his ball-dominant rim attacks over and over because they get in a rhythm defensively that translates to offense.
So opponents have the attitude that Stan Van Gundy had in 2009 (historic upset) - "we wanted him to dribble and get stats" (aka get empty stats lebron)
