I have 400 subs on my YouTube channel on a super niche topic (related to my username). I started the channel when the pandemic started and made around 50 videos...but haven't made any money from it. Haven't reached the 1000 subs minimum needed.

But I don't enjoy making videos. I enjoy talking about stuff I'm interested in, but don't enjoy the process of making videos and presenting things in a nice and appealing way. It's too much effort. I'm probably going to move into podcasting

I watch several subscribed sailing youtube authors and the biggest issue most people do not realize is that a ton of editing occurs.
(hours)

But they make good money - easily in the teens to 20+k.
But a following has to occur and you have to have give aways to your subscribers.
It's a rat race against other authors.
If you take it on , it can be rewarding , but you also have to have a positive attitude , not like poopsie or jstern.
