Should America just annex Canada?

Ofc it’s a bit of a tongue in cheek suggestion, but when you think about it.... is there any real good reason not to?

We’re geographically connected, we speak the same language, have the same culture, same settlement history.... there are virtually no meaningful differences between the two. Texas and California are more disparate than the US and Canada.

Why not just add Canada to the US and stop worrying about currency exchanges, border security and passports, different units of measure and so on between the two functionally identical communities? It’s pretty silly when you think about it.

The answer is that people tend to accentuate their differences, even among groups that are similar. A Ukrainian thinks they're not Russian even thought their culture is similar to Russia's from an objective historical standpoint because they don't see it that way, they feel different and value their differences more than their similarities.

How our history of our planet has evolved , a lot of learning will need to be done amongst all of the countries. Wars , poverty , slavery etc..

But I believe down the road their will be a united government establishing laws for everyone. (A united world order sort of speak)
At one time I thought it might be within the century , now I have to believe it will be at least 2-3 centuries.

This will have to happen because I seriously believe there will be more disasters and everyone will have to help.

I remember Carl Sagan stating we are in our infancy of walking .... history pretty much has proven that.
