Looking at Luka now…..anyone still gonna tell me that?

Has defense been sufficiently neutered to the point you can see such a player having nba success off skills alone?

Bodriga would have been a problem in the NBA at any time.

Would have been making people look stupid on the regular, and give you good production akin to something like J Crawford.

NBA training has increased his athletic ability exponentially.

I remember the first time I really watched Eurobasket and it was that Barcelona team with Jasikevicius, Bodiroga, Navarro, Fúcka and some huge spaniard and I didn't really know any of them, but Bodiroga stood out easily.

I think probably Jasikevicius was considered the better player, leader whatever, but Bodiroga was so obviously a super star, he reminded me of the kind of soccer player that Barca would have back then Romario, Laudrup, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo etc.

He had that style and flair, was going to score and make it look good.

I think looking at Bodiroga, that's a lot of Luka Doncic there. I don't know if Doncic would have watched Bodiroga or if he was too young, but those post moves and the dribble hesi moves are so Luka.

Bodiroga did and do seem almost comically slow. I think he'd struggle, but if someone like Bjelica can hang, then Bodiroga can probably too.

Jasikevicius is another guy I wanted to get a real shot and I felt when he got with Don Nelson he would but….no.

He would probably have had a NBA career more similar to Teodosic/Spanoulis than Luka.

Well realistically is not a bad defender he just has Magic Johnson disease and does not belong anywhere near a quick guard.

I’ve seen him lock up PG and Kawhi simultaneously in playoff games, while helping on defense and cutting off every pass and drive with good timing.

All the things that make his offense great (brakes, strength, balance, hands, awareness), make his defense average to decent.

In any era. Defense isn’t neutered by the way. Offense has been figured out to a literal science.

Whatever Happened with offenses it’s also inarguable that rules were changed with the express purpose of helping the offense and several of the times they were open about that being the reason for the changes. They openly set out to open up the game and make it easier to score and they succeeded.
