I see his best stat he scored like 16 points with 4 assists and 4 turnovers per game.

In the NBA this would be like a Jordan Clarkson or something.

Is Euro basketball so much harder that 16 points is considered so very godly?

They only play 40 minutes a game, the 3PT line is shorter (making it easier to rotate on defense, less space) and there's no 3 second rule on defense. 16 ppg there is like 20-22 ppg in the NBA at least tbh. Spanoulis looked so damn unathletic to me but they couldn't guard him in Euroleague. I think he's considered the GOAT because of his longevity and how much he won overall, not because he was the best player at his peak. Even a young Luka was clearly better than any version of Spanoulis. He's #1 in points and #2 in assists all-time in the Euroleague.

brownie points for being an ambassador in a time of conflict

I think there were a lot of things that he did on a court there that transcended numbers, and it seems like the general vibes with the Euroleague center more around how good you are as a player overall and not what your numbers are.

Because he destroyed Lebron in FIBA which isn't something new.
