View Full Version : I'm not a Curry fan, but if he wins a ring this year..

Then he has 4 rings with the same team he was drafted with, including 2 against Lebron and one sweep of Lebron.

Even I have to admit that Curry is better than Lebron.

There's just no way around that.

The overhyping of Curry smells like the overhyping of Kobe in the mid to late 00s, it's the same cast of people anyway.

Curry will come down to earth when he loses to Spurs or Thunder.

Will OP pull the "Curry proved me wrong, when has Bron ever proved me wrong" card like 3ball does?

It hasn't been easy being a Lebron fan these last years.

All Lebron's stats have been overdone by Westbrook and Luka, Curry winning more than him, Luka the new star.

Lebron's star will fade. I don't see his all time ranking holding up well over the next 2 decades.

In lieu of recent events, would you now agree that you'd take Mark Price over Steph Curry?

Curry has been the best player in the world since 2015.

The wide only gotten bigger especially since he won the Western MVP trophy. Another achievement Lebron will never do

I agree.

Curry changed how the game was played. Like how MJ changed the game, how Shaq changed the game.

Lebron never changed how the game was played.

Yes he did. LeBron is 100% personally responsible for the start of and the 10+ years that followed of collusion.

Lebron is just so underwhelming if you actually looks at what he's done and his actual results.

Only 4 rings despite 15 years of deliberately ringchasing every season. 1 scoring title? No averaging a trip-dup, no DPOY, multiple FIBA failures, multiple playoff meltdowns.

Without being able to completely manipulate the league, the media and the narrative, what actually is Lebron?

Definitely not a top 10 player if Curry isn't.

That’s what I don’t understand. A lot of people don’t count those rings for Durant..but Curry gets a pass? I get that is was his team but did he also not benefit from it being stupidly stacked?

And KD was the one leading the team in scoring and winning FMVP for both runs. It's a huge double standard.

Wiggins looks like a damn FMVP in this playoffs, Iggy won FMVP, Durant won FMVP and hasn't sniffed it since.

If Dray was on a different team he'd flame out like Demarcus Cousins.

The one constant is Curry, he is the team and culture, like Tim Duncan, not Pop, not Kawhi, was the Spurs.

Curry is basically the guard Duncan, a Larry Bird type player that creates a winning environment.

Wiggins was easily the most visible player in the Mavs series. Played great defense on Luka and brought it on offense.

Looked really good honestly, looked like a prime PG level player, but he isn't and that's the point.

No, he isn't. He is and has always been a good player who is capable of playing a good series. If he's the best or second best player on your team overall you aren't going anywhere. If he's the 4th best player with the responsibilities the come with that and you can get spurts like this from him? You're looking golden.

Nobody cared when he scored 24 a game with the Wolves.

Ok, but Wiggins has not been a factor for winning before and was considered soft and unmotivated and a weak defender.

It's pretty obvious that the Warriors environment is like the Spurs environment.

For comparison sake, what do you think Bertans would look like there vs on the Mavs? Yeah.

Correct. Going from the best guy on a bad team to the 4th best on a great team can do that.

As for Bertans...why would he get consistent minutes on the Warriors? And if he did, he'd probably look better because he would be asked to do literally one thing. The Warriors have other guys do shit that the Mavs ask him to do but that he's not good enough to. Thus why he doesn't look good. No one looks good when they're required to do things that they can't.

I think my point is, that in a time of free player movement and "building teams", that how good you are at creating a winning environment needs to be taken into account when ranking players.

Are you a locust type player jumping from field to field or is you a chimp alpha building a nice comforting group.

That's all fine and well. You discount the coaching staff more than you should though. It's not like Curry came along and all of a sudden the Warriors are dominant. He, Klay, and Dray played together for 4 years before they became next level.

Lebron was a remarkable athlete, I haven't given him enough credit for that.

Athleticism wise he is up there with Jordan, Bo Jackson, Karelin etc.

Looking at Luka and how tired he gets, then Lebron in his prime was something else, coast to coast, defense and offense.

Lebron is not a very good basketball player skillwise though and he had some mental issues that he didn't get fixed until late.

I will say this, he is lucky to have grown up a coddled millennial and having had a lot of people around him to help out and plan and scheme for him. It really maximized his career.

Think if someone like Nique had the same group and hype. He'd have played it much smarter, teaming up with Clyde, then beating MJ.
