To me, Jimmy Butler has the ego of a superstar, but isn't.

He'd have to be a secondary star. I think he was never better than as a sidekick to Derrick Rose, even though D-Rose scored less.

What kind of first option should he play alongside? A shooter, a passer or a driver?

2-1 with him, 0-2 without him. He makes some dumb plays every game, but he also has a big impact on the court as far as playmaking and scoring. They need him back.

What is a Pippen? A great sidekick to a dominant top 3 player? I mean Butler is arguably top 10 already so it'd have to be framed as I said it, right?

As far as what a "Pippen" is, if we flip that narrative the other way, Pippen is definitely not a Butler. He's clearly incapable of having the playoff scoring/iconic performances of Butler.

Rose would be a great fit for a lot of teams, but he just can not stay healthy enough for a deep playoff run unless you load manage the hell out of him
