Read the boxscore of this game if you want to truly see how selfish Baylor was as a player.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/196811220LAL.html

There's a reason why he is considered the GOAT loser in NBA history as he usually **** the bed in those game sevens against the Celtics.

In 1962 he shot 13 out of 40 from the field in an overtime game seven loss while West was 14 out of 30.

In 1966 he shot 6 out of 22 from the field in a two-point loss while West was 12 out of 27.

in 1969 he shot out of 22 from the field in a two-point loss while West was 14 out of 29 and Wilt was 7 out of 8.

The more I read and watch footage about him the more selfish of a player he seems.

As In game 5 of the 1968 finals with West clearly being the superior player at this point.

Baylor shoots 9 out of 26 from the field to West's 14 out of 24 in a three-point loss.

3-27 in a 2 point loss.. That's gotta be all time worst choke ever. If I'm Wilt and West, I'm taking him in an alley for a beating after that game.

How does him shooting a bunch of times (being number 1 or number 2 option on the team) make him selfish?

If it was the 8th man taking those shots, than the 8th man is selfish.

I'm pretty sure he avg the most shots in that era besides Wilt.

Has West or any other players from his era stated that? He usually gets high praise from his peers.

11% FG

3 for 27. This isn't like 3 for 15 or 10 for 27

This is 3 for 27...

So, he had a bad shooting night. It happens.
The next Night, he was 13-21.

Sure bad nights happen but you shouldn't be taking 27 shots if you are making 11% of them WHILE you have teammates such as Wilt and West.

Baylor shot 45% from the field on 21 shots
West 47% on 19 shots
Wilt 58% on 13 shots

Baylor shot above his career avg that season and his wnd highest up until that point.

Lakers got better when he retired in the middle of the '72 season. Wilt & Baylor didn't fit.

Then in the postseason.

Baylor shot 38% from the field on 15 shots.

West 46% on 23 shots

Wilt 54% on 10 shots

The Lakers offense got worse when Wilt first got there in '69, Wilt & Baylor were never ideal fits.

It is interesting that in 1970 after feuding up with VBK the year before.

The new coach decided that the team on offence would go straight through Wilt.

As a result of this in the first 9 games Wilt averaged his usual prime numbers:

45.4 mpg, 32.2 ppg, 20.6 rpg, 3.4 apg on 58% FG, 45.7% FT and 56.5% TS

His averages would likely be higher because he was on pace to make another ATG scoring performance against the Suns but he got injured (33 points on 13/14 FG in 28 min).

Lakers were 5-3 without counting this game that Wilt didn't finish.

He didn't reduce West and Baylor averages either as - Baylor averaged 19.9 ppg in these 9 games and West finished with 30.8 ppg in that period.
