View Full Version : It is obvious that Butler has copied Derrick Rose

Jimmy's power drives to the rim, finesse finishing, body control, floaters hop steps... all this which made him go to the next level since the last few years, all of these moves he just borrowed from Derrick Rose. Right now he's like a bigger Rose that doesn't get injured that often (but post injury Rose not pre injury). Jimmy's transformation from a more of a 3&D player to a point forward started at Minnesota where he played with Rose for the second time.

Wtf is up with OP's weird obsession with Derrick Rose of all people? That is equivalent of someone standing Tim Hardaway or something.

Was he playing in the same way as today?

I didn't watch him much but his final season as a Bull he averaged 5.5 assists. A 3 and D wing isn't going to do that. A point forward could.

I'm talking about his driving and finishing game. It emerged since he left Minnesota. Before that he was not attacking the rim in the same way.

If he's averaging 20 points and 5 assists he has to have been doing some of the things back then that he's doing now.

Obviously some yes. But the stuff he picked up from Rose completed his jump to superstardom, because he wasn't driving with such skill and power before, and thats what makes him so dominant now. He uses a whole bunch of Rose's repertoire, anyone who has watched them both closely can see that. And since the timeline fits its the only explanation where he picked it up.

He averaged 8.9 FTA his last season in Chicago and put up 24/6/6. He's been attacking the rim since his 3rd year.

This is one of the weirdest and most confusing threads I’ve ever seen.

Kinda crazy that a prime Jimmy is probably a better player than prime Rose - and one was an MVP...

Its HOW hes attacking the rim now that is different, not how much. Rose was beginning to reinvent himself in those days (2016ish) before they reunited in Minnesota, as he was becoming an under the rim player and realizing he can't do the same stuff anymore as before the injury. Jimmy is also not the most high flying but he makes up with touch and body control.

And I agree that MVP Rose and today Jimmy are very close to the point I might also give the slight edge to Jimmy, mostly because of his defense. What he loses to Rose in quickness he compensates even more with size and strength. But Rose is the original power & finesse slasher.
