He actually has two if you count 1967 as he would have gotten the award had it existed at the time.

Anyway please focus on the topic.

Nice. Sorry I like you as a poster. Just had to get you for that one thread

Back to OP.

That is pretty alarming although I imagine that would probably be the case if you looked at anyone with and without KD.

He's just that good of a player.

we're really making this thread already lol. yea the warriors were historically dominant with durant. They're still a title team without him. Dont forget Boston has arguably been better on the road than at home these playoffs. Their role players dont seem to be affected by home court at all.

I guess what I'm saying is we should expect anyone to do worse without KD as opposed to with him during the playoffs. That part makes sense.

If Curry loses this series a lot of people regardless of if it is deserved or not will look back at that 2015 ring as shaky.

As imagine if Durant had been lucky enough to face Lebron with Bosh and Wade missing due to injury in the 2012 finals.

He would have a ring and finals MVP as well.

No need to look back.

The 2015 ring doesn't count

Unless you think any team thats ever won would've still won without their 2nd and 3rd option... yeah no.

The 2015 ring is a joke and curry didn't even win fmvp. It's actually a stain on his career...

It still counts though just like the 2021 Bucks or 2019 Raptors ring counts.

Steph Curry won 9 of his last 10 NBA Finals games with Kevin Durant on his team.

Curry has lost 8 of his last 9 NBA Finals games without KD, including 6 straight losses at home.

Jesus that is a bad stat to look at if you are a Curry stan.

I don't see how its his fault though. Dray and klay shit the bed. Curry had a fine game... He was the leading scorer in the entire game. In 2019 both klay and Durant had season ending injuries. Its a misleading statistic without applying context.

It's a rough one to defend without context, but the Warriors were decimated by injuries in 2019 and blew the last 3 games of the 2016 Finals (with Bogut & Iggy injured, Draymond suspended in one of those as well), so context really matters here. It's a nice stat to post on Reddit/Twitter for likes/upvotes though.

I’m usually a fan of op’s posts because he brings context behind the misleading stats, for whatever reason he’s flipped 180 on it in this scenario. I don’t know why that’s the case but it is interesting.

It's too early in the series to predict a GS meltdown. But if GS does lose this series, it will be an indictment on Steph that basically he has zero "legacy" rings.

Yes his rings count, but given 2 of them were alongside KD and 1 was in the absence of Love and Kyrie, it really will prove detrimental to his overall legacy.

Making the argument that Currys rings dont count because he played with durantjust falls short of any type of logic looking at other all time greats.

Magics rings don't count then because he played with Kareem on super teams. And vice versa for Kareem who only won with Big O and Magic. Two all time superstars who were better than Durant.

None of Shaqs rings count because he only won with Kobe and Wade who are both equal to or better than Durant.

None of Lebrons rings count playing with Wade and AD who are Durant level players.

And so on...

Curry is the only guy not allowed to play with superstars.

Re-read what I said, I clearly said "yes his rings count". I'm talking about "legacy" rings or rings that define a player's success and or ability.

steph still overrated, but he's a killer.

Durant on that GSW team was just stupid. Given KD's skill set he could prol fit on any team and succeed (cept nets lawlll.) So he just maximized everyone else's stuff. The fact that he came in and took all Stephs FMVPs... you know Steph was salty. That Iggy FMVP was sooo trash tho. I still shake my head when they say former fmvp Iggy it's like haha. I mean, just hate.

But yea Steph is SUPER overrated on the ATG stage. he's just not a dude like BIRD or BRON or w/e. He's def 2nd tier tho.

DEF BETTER THAN CP3 WAHAHA.

What is Durant's record in the finals without Curry?

This makes this entire topic so odd. Overreactions in basketball boards is always insane after 1 game. If Warriors blow out Boston by 20, it doesn't automatically make them favorites for the title either for example, but you know how people would take it. :lol

He's never played for stacked teams like curry.

Stupid comment. He'd be 4-0 if heat lost bosh and Wade before the finals in 2012.

Narrative guy.

They didn't even have a lead at halftime, so his early stats had no impact on the game

They were wide open shoots too. Once Celtics D settled in, Curry was a non-factor on offense and a negative defender
