View Full Version : Yet another finals that shows how jordon's teams would struggle in today's 3point era

He played in an era where teams, including his own, averaged 10-15 3 point attempts per game. With the exception of 1994-97 pee-wee line seasons, where it was slightly higher.
The Celtics and the Warriors shot 41 and 45 threes in game 1, and they both shot over 40%, with the Celtics shooting over 50%. jordon was built for one particular "mama bear" era with no competition (post-1980s Lakers/Celtics/Pistons powerhouses) but pre-2000s 3 point reliance.

Not true. These Celtics are basically all Jordan’s shooting high volume from 3 (efficient) if anything it shows MJ would thrive

Jordan would simply attempt more threes and he always shot well whenever he had above bailout volume.
In the 85-93' Playoffs, he shot 37% in games where he took 3+ attempts (172/470). He shot 39% at 4 attempts in the 93' Playoffs, or 43% at 5 attempts in the 92' Finals... Good form generally shoots threes better in rhythm (more attempts)

It’s safe to say that with the current nba’s spaced format MJ would shoot 43% from 3

Agree, OP. The guy who scored 63 in a playoff game against Larry Bird's Celtics would struggle against Tatum and Brown.
Not to mention that Rodman would spike that flopping Marcus Smart right on his fungus-colored head.

The 2017 Warriors would sweep every single 80s and 90s "powerhouse" team.
