View Full Version : How many titles does Lebron end up with if he joined GSW in 2014.

I find it strange how much these GOAT debates can hinge on choices unrelated to basketball.

So let's say in an alternative universe LeBron decides to join a young Golden State team in 2014 instead of returning to Cleveland.

The lineup would look like this:

PG - Curry

SG - Klay

SF - LeBron

PF - Draymond

C - Bogut

Iggy sixth man.

You would have to think that Lebron certainly wins at least 4 to 5 titles with Curry from 2015 to 2019

With a great chance of winning more heading into the 2020s.

Therefore I do think had Lebron chosen GSW in 2014 over Cleveland.

That he would have ended his career with about 7 to 9 rings.

I do wonder which team with the Cavs now out of the picture would have been the biggest threat to the Warriors.

OKC with Durant could have posed a problem but you have to think GSW with Lebron probably deals with them in 5 games in 2016.

The Rockers would most likely get stomped out as well in 2018 and 2019.

The Raptors would put up a fight in 2019 but the talent deficit would be too much.

The Heat in 2020 are getting stomped.

I think they would be worse than Durant Warriors.

Please explain why you think that way as prime Lebron who would be surrounded by the two goat shooters in NBA history.

Would make for an unstoppable offence.

Because Draymond Green would be absolutely useless on offense to the point they would consider trading him. KD came in and didn't really disrupt the chemistry that much. With Lebron thats a new team. Lebron is not an addition. You play Lebron ball from then on.

But consider how great a defensive duo of Green and Lebron would be.

I do think Lebron and Green due to having such high basketball IQs would make it work on offence.

As Lebron can playoff off-ball.

the counter is kevin durant likely never leaves okc and they're more of threat and replace cleveland as gs' main rival. Yes it was just durant/westbrook the early years but they were rumored for horford after 2016 if durant had stayed. Westbrook/oladipo/durant/horford/adams is formidable

That OKC team would most likely get finished in 6 games by Lebron and Steph.

As the Warriors would take advantage of Westbrook's flaws.

well gs had flaws that okc could take advantage of too. their size(rebounding) gave them trouble along with westbrook's athleticism even pre horford. I agree okc doesnt have enough but injuries happen as they did for the durant squad and oladipo showed he could breakout. Tbf lebron helps a lot with those issues.

OKC would have to get PG 13 as they did in real life by trading Oladipo and Sabonis to stand a proper chance of taking down that GSW monster.

As Westbrook/PG/durant/Horford/Adams is a team that would give Lebron and Steph an absolute run for their money.

But bron made the wrong move. Which goes into his bball iq and his achievements. He made his bed now he has to lie in it.

Lebron ball would have held them back.

1 chip Max....absolute Max.

But probably none

Lebron has worked in a motion offence though as Miami used him as an off-ball cutter and screen setter and it resulted in 2 rings and it should have been 3 if not for LeBron's meltdown in 2011.

6-7, on top of the 2 he already won with Miami at that point.
And yet LeBron chose the hard way.

In the summer of 2014:

Kyrie: 0 career playoff games
Love: 0 career playoff games
Curry: 19 career playoff games
Klay: 19 career playoff games
Draymond: 19 career playoff games

The Warriors had given the 2013 Spurs the only two losses of the Spurs' playoffs, aside from his own hard-fought series in the 2013 finals. Everyone, including LeBron, could see that joining the Warriors was the waaay easier way. But LeBron still chose Cleveland because he wanted the challenge. What a friggin beast! :applause:

Correct.

LeBron doesn't take the easy way out like Durant did in 2016 and Jordan did in 1995 by joining a 73 and 55 win teams.

LeBron built that Cavs team from the ground up after being perennial bottom feeders.

Same with Lakers. A bottom feeder team that Bron went to and rebuilt.

He promised a ring to Cleveland and he delivered.

They would be completely unbeatable. That would be some real not 5, not 6, not 7 bill Russell dynasty type shit. But of course it wouldn't count for Curry to play with another superstar like almost every other all time great got to do.

Manny98

They'd win every year

Curry + LeBron + Klay would be unbeatable

How though?

Lebron can't play off the ball...

His pounding the rock would also hold back the Warriors flowing offense

This. Players don't stay good for long playing with Lebron.

0.

Kerr will be fired.

Dray will be benched and traded. Because he will play SF as Lebron's backup.

Klay will play as good as D. Green.

Curry will be a spot up shooter, blamed by Lebron fans and media and leave team on FA.

Lebron's friends will be overpaid by GSW.

Lebron leaves team just after 4 years but his overpaid friends stays and GSW tanks.

Probably every ring from 2014 until 2019.

Wade/Bosh > Curry/Klay

Everyone thought the Heat would be unbeatable but big man ball-dominance will make ANY cast underwhelm, whether it's Wade/Bosh or Curry/Klay

The Warriors were great because of their brand of ball and they wouldn't have that with Lebron - they would have a low-assist team and wouldn't win 60 games most years, just like the Heat, Cavs and Lakers

Lebron had a ton of rosters and played with tons of great players, yet he was never "unbeatable" - big man ball-dominance is always beatable regardless of cast and will have a lottery record on the Finals level (low team ceiling regardless of cast)

Not many. We don't recognize his current manufactured rings, why would we recognize a different set of manufactured rings?

LeBron is a fraud.
