And there were people who agreed. So I’ll ask you….

At what point would you say Al was better? Better overall career?

Apparently it’s close to a number of people so let’s see….

horford was better by 16 besides that one pistons years blake carried them to the 8 seed. He just couldnt stay healthy and was just a lower tier all star even when healthy.

Peak Griffin was a superstar. Horford was more like a great roleplayer but you would never base an offense on him. Difficult to say when Horford longevity tips the scales in his favor but he has had the better career just not better peak.

Really sucks that Griffin lost his explosiveness. His first year O thought he was going to be the new Barkley.

I think it’s reasonable, especially given Blake’s defensive limitations. He also wasnt the truly dominant offensive player the stats and hype might suggest. He obviously was more of a “first option” than Horford but Im not sure he made a bigger impact on winning.

Honestly tho, I firmly believe the TRex arms are the only thing that kept him from having a Top 15 type career. He still found ways to get his shot up over guys with longer reaches, but it was always very awkward. If he had a typical PF wingspan with the rest of his skills and athleticism and IQ, hed have basically been an off-brand version of Lebron.

It's just prisoner of the moment BS. I like Horford and I'm actually a bigger fan of his game, but Blake in his prime was on another tier.

Doesn’t it feel like it was longer ago than 2019 Blake was a 25/8/5 player? I almost couldn’t believe it when I checked.

Blake was for sure the more productive and individually accomplished player, but I’d for real much rather have Horford on my team than him. I feel like Horford could fit onto virtually any type of roster and make a positive impact, something I don’t think could be said about Blake.

I guess, but Im not surprised. Anyone who is the main guy getting touches on a meaningless team is gonna get numbers. Kevin Love did big numbers in Minnesota.

It doesn’t necessarily reflect a guys real impact is above replacement. Griffin is good, dont get me wrong. But getting numbers and being irreplaceable are obviously two different things.

I would take Horford but it isn't a big difference. Blake scored more but his efficiency wasnt that good. Neither was his defense. The 2019 season wasnt the norm for him.

Blake was pretty injury prone. He played 65 games only 6 times in his career. Horford did it 12 times.

Horford is reasonably effective guarding perimeter players on switches and is a pretty good man defender inside. The only time he really has problems defensively is against someone who is a lot bigger than him.

Horford is 3 years older and is playing a key role in the finals. Blake looks pretty much washed.

blake was a super star... when he joined Detroit his numbers stayed the same , because he was option 1,2,,3... lol (he brought the ball up looked for a shooter (none) then went to work.
In his prime vs Al Blake ate him up.
Career wise ,, longevity is important .... Al failed when he left Boston, and came back and was an impact role player for the tiny bobbers..

I still pick Blake (Al is spotty since he rejoined Boston)

Horford has always been in the elite role player tier: Tyson Chandler, Shawn Marion, Joakim Noah, Zach Randolph, etc.

Griffin rose higher at his peak. He was a true star.

Yeah... I guess. Different skillsets. I do wonder who actually contributes to winning basketball games more. It's about putting together a team of players and I'm not sure I like allocating my resources on Blake Griffin. I feel like he can't scale down his role and have as great an impact as Horford can.

If I have a lottery-bound team that I want to make the playoffs, I'd probably take Griffin.

If I have a playoff team that I want to make a contender, I'd probably take Horford.

his % of FG Ast'd confirms your first 3 named player, TS% confirms on Randolph

Thorpe peak 20 and 10. Horford peak 17 and 10.
Horford's been All-NBA, All-Defense, has 5x the all-star selections, and has a decisive edge in advanced metrics, he's clearly superior to Thorpe.
