Due to his gravity creating easy shots for his teammates?

How many NBA players can you say this for? Shaq maybe?

That is a bit extreme, but I've seen Steph putting up very marginal counting stats while being most impactful player on the court.

What?

Hes had similar gravity in the other finals, hence putting his team first, and getting the wins.

So no...not even close

Weird thread

I don't mean the MVP award per se, just that he's the 'most valuable player' on the court. The premise of the thread isn't hard to figure out. He draws so much defensive attention he could theoretically go 0-10 FG with 0 assists, but be the MVP of the game.

This is a case of an accurate phenomenon being selectively acknowledged for some players and not others. Sure you have to worry more about his shooting than others but having such a great team himself helps him as well. When he walks into wiiiide open 3s as the defense totally forgets him and drops to cover others we all say “Oh my god how do you forget Steph” as we did over and over in game 1. But if he were the one dropping back and opening up 10 feet of space for the shooter someone would screen shot it and make topics about gravity.

The difference between he and a number of others isn’t as extreme as some suggest. You’d think he actually got doubled at 35 feet on every trip the way some people talk but we can watch him dancing one on one with some bad switch on an island all through the playoffs if we actually look.

He gets doubled. He doesn’t get doubled all the time nor enough to act like nobody cares to stop his teammates from scoring just because some people choose to screen shot every time help D steps toward him. It’s a liiiiitle bit overblown as are most narratives.

In fairness, there's such attention on Steph getting FMVP this time around as opposed to previous, that he he'll really have to suck not to get it.

The FMVP voters were too low iq too figure it out.

Yeah? In 2015 and 2016 and 2017 and 2018 and 2019?

So will they finally be "Motel 6 high IQ" like you in 2022?

In all seriousness, if theres no clear-cut deserving player for FMVP at the end of this series I think it should simply be awarded to Lebron in absentia.

Curry not winning FMVP this year would be extremely embarrassing...
