View Full Version : Hypothetically how does a 3/6 Finals record with 0-6 FMVP legacy sit with you?

I know many here put stock in these sorts of resumé bullet points.

So how would you evaluate such a legacy?

Lotta series still left to play, BUT.... semi-srs question.

What do you think?

If the Warriors lose, a 1-3 Finals record without Durant, and the one win with Kyrie & Love missing the series, is a bad look. All 3 losses would come as the series favorite too.

Still good enough for top 15 ever, but I don't see how you put him top 10.

A FMVP in this series would do wonders for his legacy, I wouldn't argue too much if I see people put him in the top 10.

If we hold 2015 against him, we should give him a pass for 2019.
Although he missed some timely shots and still could’ve won the series.

3/6 isn't a big deal but the no fmvp's is a big deal. His Stans will downplay it but the fact that curry has never been the best player in a finals is a big deal. Especially for most of his chips he wasn't even the best player on his own team.

I'll give him credit, even though they're trailing, this is the first time Curry's looked like the best player in a Finals, and so far it's by a clear margin.

JJ Redick with more backing. Simple and plain.

Yup. Guys like warriorfan and stephonit act like warriors were a Dynasty before and after kd but the shit just isn't true. A lucky chip followed by an epic meltdown and a couple finals loses recently (if they lose this year) dosn't make you a dynasty.

He’s not LeBron so no one will care if he has a “bad” finals record. I personally have Curry in my top 10 anyways regardless of what he does but I’m higher on him than most.

Yeah I agree with that. So far he has. I disagree with it not being close. Brown in the 2 games they've won has been close to Steph offensively but way better defensively. Defense always gets looked over in these discussions but it shouldn't. If you consider defense Bron has been close to Steph so far this series.

Yeah I agree with that. So far he has.

he's been pound for pound the best.

I don't know what pound for pound means in basketball. It's not like boxing where you only compete against your weight class.

And if you go game by game it's definitely close between him and brown when you take defense into account

Makes it very difficult to place Curry as a topten ATG.

Which is crazy because he's supposed to be the GOAT Shooter.

Curry’s looked like 2011 LeBron so far in the 4th, 6 points total in the 2 games they lost, none in the last 8-9 minutes.

Yeah but his mediocre play in the 4th has to be accounted for dude. That's the problem with overall stats. They don't tell the whole story. Fact is when it's mattered be the most he hasn't even been the 4th or 5th best player on the floor. That can't be overlooked

The Finals record hurts him in my rankings... Bumps him down to 9 or 10.. but it's still his era by virtue of having a goat team, dynasty and changing the format of how the game is played

I got Curry at #4 for his position and #2 for his generation which puts him in the 14-17 range all-time. The FMVP thing doesn't bother me because watching this series he's clearly the best player out there and if The Celtics win I don't even know who on that team would get it.

2015 doesn't count

Durant rings don't count

So he has zero legit rings (rings without preposterous talent advantage... 0 FMVP's)

Thats more about Boston lacking any all time greats themselves.

Curry has played very well in stretches of each game, he’s also disappeared for stretches.

In reality I think peoples expectations of Curry are too high. When hes on a loaded team that’s winning games, his flashy style inevitably stands out most, and garners disproportionate credit for the team success. And people then expect him to be some world beater in every scenario.

Hes a great player and a big PART of Golden State’s success, but hes still overrated in the way most stars are overrated. They cant win championships on their own, yet people always act like thats how it works.

Very few players, such as Lebron, are actually as valuable as the fan/media machine builds them up to be. In fact Bron is probably the ONLY one. Ever.

Most superstars still have flaws, as good as they are, and cant overcome top-to-bottom talent disparities.

I'm not gonna lie. If he was 6/6 with 6 FMVPs, he'd be the undisputed GOAT.

Why do the LeBlowJob gang cherry pick when losing matters?

Most will agree it tarnishes his legacy, but you dickheads won't apply the same logic to LeFail. :facepalm

He was the best player in 2015. The Iggy FMVP is one of the worst choices ever.

Also the third title he was literally better for 3/4 games, yet Durant got FMVP.
