Kansas City Chiefs coach Hank Stram is interested in signing Wilt Chamberlain.

“The seven-foot-one center, who weighs 290 pounds, was timed in 4.6 seconds for a 40-yard run in bare feet.”

As for Lebron, he was also timed running 40 yards in 4.6 seconds as well.

As for their vertical jumps.

A well-known and respected sportswriter measured a vertical leap by Wilt at 42" (he witnessed Wilt touching the ceiling in a hospital and measured it afterwards.)

As for Lebron, his vertical jump was measured at 44.

While for their bench press.

SI ran an article in 1964 that claimed that Wilt was benching 425 lbs...and that was when he was in his mid-20s.

At age 59 it was reported that Wilt was capable of benching 459 lbs.

As for Lebron, we don't know the answer to that question.

It is funny to me to hear a lot of people talk about how it is inevitable that people get better as athletes because of evolution in training and so on.

When Wilt who played in the 1960s is still unrivalled as a athlete even by today's standards.

Note that Wilt is running in chucks in this video compared to Lebron who has far better shoes.

Wilt and it's not close. He's significantly bigger and ran just as fast, jumped just as high and was significantly stronger.

Athlete Is a combination of traits.

Lebron has elite athleticism with great hand eye coordination

Wilt was the best athlete in the NBA ever by a pretty wide margin. I wish I was able to see him play live.

Wilt just because he's bigger. At his size running and jumping the way he did is just... WOW!

Could Lebron take fouls like this on the regular and just keep it moving like no big deal?

I doubt it... It seems like he would get demoralized by the physical format and turn into a lower-scoring facilitator like Magic or Kidd or Stockton.. Touch, finesse and pure scoring skill was required to be a big scorer in the unspaced environments of previous eras, whereas Lebron is a stiff-armer with stone hands (no touch)

A loser and a flop and a complete, abject failure without the Great Scott Pippen.

Hughes taught Lebron how to make Playoffs

Wade taught him how to perform under pressure instead of choke every year

Kyrie dominated Curry and closed for him

AD won MVP of WCF and carried Bron to the Finals against weak LeEast

Whereas who is Pippen? When did he reach that top-tier of dominance that we like to see from perimeter stars in a series or when did he hit a big shot

Imagine if Jordan left in his prime to join up with the 2nd and 4th highest PER in the league?

That would be like Michael Jordan leaving Scottie and joining up with Magic Johnson and Hakeem Olajuwon….only to be outscored by John Starks and lose in the Finals. Just imagine how that would be received and how it would affect his legacy.
